Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

It has reached NYC

The real problem is if they lose control of it in Africa. All you need is one infected person to get off the plane someplace like Mumbai, Delhi, or Beijing, and we're fooked here too.

or getting run over by a taxi...?

Harder to get people all hysterical about that. And who do I vote for if I'm irrationally scared of traffic? Tougher call.

Anyway, yeah you're like a million trillion times more likely to get run over a taxi than for you contract ebola, or jihadi axe wounds, or plane flying into tower-itis, or any of the other well established risks of modern urban living.

Used to work for Doctors Without Borders. Sorry to hear about this.

Drudge has been trying very hard to build hysteria around this Ebola ahead of the November elections.

Which makes me wonder...

Why the right fears Ebola, but not global warming?

Do right wing candidates provide better healthcare for Ebola patients? Is that the idea?

Wonder what's going on here.

The way country people talk about the city is hilarious. You can still fish 100 days a year, make a $100k a year, and see 100's of beautiful women every day. Whats not to like? Very difficult to accomplish 2/3 of those in the boonies

JC, the city is great when you're young and strong.

Guys like me see the same 100 beautiful women you see.

Problem is they don't look back at middle aged bald guys, and I feel a bit ridiculous.

That's why I spend my extra time working on GB mag.

Check it out.

If you are going to launch what I assume will be a bro-ed out Drake copy cat magazine you need to be in one of the more indie cities. Imagine being in Denver, drinking a microbrew stoned as shit with no fear of arrest contemplating the next volume of your magazine at the coffee shop where the muffins are killer? Doesn't sound too bad.

Why so hostile JC?

I'm not putting down the big apple, I just feel comfort in living a slow paced lifestyle. And hell, we got some pretty good jobs up here and smokin' corn fed country sluts if you know where I look.

The cities that appeal to me are Vancouver, Seattle and maybe Bozeman. I like the moderate climate of the Pacific northwest.

I have never been to Bozeman, actually...

But it has appeal...

There is nothing really to worry about Ebola unless you live in Africa, for now. But hey, when the population pushes 20 billion in the future, there may be a little something to worry about then.

As far as global warming goes, I enjoy the hysteria of it, it provides entertainment. Especially when I blow past a Prius or Volt with my loud V-8 powered exhaust, and to quote Jeremy Clarckson, they can hear me hurt the environment. I've actually had people come up to me in the parking lot at work and ask if I feel guilty about it. Was very hard not blow my coffee out of my nose laughing.

Nothing says "F you Mother Nature!", better than over a full quart of oil consumption between oil changes on that S4 you have.

What hysteria are you referring to? Are people rioting in the street? No they are not.

What people are talking about are some valid concerns but there is no hysteria. People are spot wanting transparency and pragmatic steps to limit the ability for Ebola to spread. When your government missteps you call them out on it?

The consumption for me varies depending on time of year and type of driving, most I ever had to add was a quart. I also go 5k between changes. At least I don't have to worry about carbon buildup. I'm waiting for them to add port injection to all of their engines before I buy a new one. I was looking at used RS5's, but don't want to deal with the carbon.

Mac, I agree with you that Ebola is an issue and should be taken seriously.

I would look to scientists for your information before, let's say, Rush Limbaugh.

Beetle your asume a lot. First you said the right is cresting hysteria yet I see no evidence of it. Second you say trust the scientists. I say demonstrate you are trustworthy and make pragmatic decisions to protect the country. While Ebola may not be easily transmitted its a far different world we live in her vs Africa. This disease has the ability to spread rapidly here in the U.S primarily becuse we are so developed and connected. That's not hysteria that's just reality. Do we have the ability to deal with Ebola. In many respects yes but we really shouldn't put that to the test. It's a,axing we have just now in the last few days finally implementing quarantine from the impacted countries. This should not have been a hard decision to make.

Rush is one of the leading experts in the study of oxycodone, he's had thousands of hours of study there.

Look to scientists, as long as they're not government scientists. What happened in Houston should have never happened. Fail by the CDC.

Let me state that you make some good points that I agree with.

It is a serious issue.

My friend was at a bowling alley where the Doctor was the night before being diagnosed and now she has been quarantined today as a safety precaution as she undergoes testing. So have the others that were in the building.Crazy Stuff.

Assume that she'll be quarantied for the full 21 days? That sucks. It won't show up on the tests this early.

I haven't followed up with her after first speaking her since its obviously a crazy time-so I dont have all the details. Its just a precaution at this point but still scary to know you were in the same room with someone that had the virus.

I thought the same thing when I heard about the situation. I blame the hipster movement for the sport's revival.

Just bowled in Hancock a few weekends ago on a rainy Saturday. Which I think may unfortunately prove your theory. Rolled in in my skinny jeans with a friend who is permanently baked and has been known to wear sunglasses in bed. I forgot to bowl ironically and instead got really competitive and tried to make the ball curve like a pro. I think my best score for the evening was a 94.

But not the place I'd want to be when there's a massively fatal disease going around that is transmitted by contact. First you share shoes with about 6,000 strangers who have used them before you. They're greasy in all the wrong places. Then you jam your finger into a little finger-hole / germ receptacle that was designed to be impossible to clean adequately, and that has also been shared by a different 6,000 strangers.

It's like a giant amoeba farm. They should just preemptively shut down all bowling alleys during any disease outbreak.

Soon as this thing's over, I'm going to open a bowling alley in Bushwick called E-bowl-a. We'll sell PBR in a can for $12 and t-shirts that say E-bowl-a! Where the fun is contagious!

I'm not trying to besmirch your friend's good name or anything, but what gets me is this Dr. Livingstone. He's off trekking in the Dark Continent, literally holding the lives of others in his hands, watching a horrible scourge take the lives of those around him, etc., etc. He comes back to the U.S. and his first thought is "Hey, I want to go bowling".
