Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

I have not heard one spring peeper this year so far.

The only thing left should be foot prints.
I am missing that glorious symphony in evening sound marking the beginning of warmer weather that symbolizes the on set of spring. They usually start their mating ritual with in the first few weeks of March. This year they are very late. It is amazing how nature works. Without any talking head telling them the spring whether has not settled in as of yet. They know instinctively what the temperatures will be in the coming weeks with their silence. So when you here the concert of thousands of horny frogs in the evening of early spring, you will know the winter has lost its icy grip.

In my area I usually hear the quacking of the wood frogs about two weeks before I hear the peepers. I've not heard any wood frogs as of yet.

No peepers here yet either Tom......I live 100 yards from a large peeper bog......and nothing but SILENCE......an eerie silence....tried to dig a tech for new bathroom plumbing, and I am still dealing with frozen ground.......at the end of March in New Jersey..........??????

I too long to hear the song of the peepers. It is their music that often precedes the flotilla of mayflies that glide along the surface of the stream and caddis and stoneflies and the ring of the trout rise that I look forward to every spring. Let there be spring...

As I read this thread in agreement, I can't help but laugh as I stare out the window at several inches of snow on April 1st.:crap:

A friend shot this peeper yesterday at the Great Swamp. He said they weren't in full swing, but were vocal.

Have been hearing them for the last week here in ocean county. Fish rising on the Tom's river yesterday.
