Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

High water = Streamer Time!

Scott

Salmo salar Sebago finatic
Too much to get done today, but I plan on fishing tomorrow. There's always lots of folks talking about not fishing because of high or dirty water.

Don't forget about streamers!

I just wanted to remind everyone not to get discouraged, if it's not unsafe to wade you can still have a good time & catch fish - just tie on a streamer!

I would suggest that the clearer the water, the more natural-imitating streamer to use; the dirtier the water gets, use a brighter & more visible one, or one with more contrast - something black.

For example, if the water is just a bit turbid a Grey or Olive Ghost might be a good choice, but as the water gets dirtier go to brighter streamers & fluorescent colors like a Yellow Maribou, or one with strong contrast like a Black Ghost.

Tight lines, everyone!

Obviously wishful thinking on my part, thus I may not be fishing tomorrow...

Crossed over the SB in LV about an hour ago. Looked to me like the water was up a good 4 feet. Then again, it was pretty dark out so I could be mistaking.

1470 at 8PM and still about 4 to 5 hrs. of steady rain to go. Have had close to Ten inches of rain in the Lehigh Valley and western NJ near me outside of Phillipsburg, and still raining as I post this.

Just checked the radar, some heavy yellow bands with read spots moving up from the south, so much more to come.

Doesn't that figure, I've got the truck loaded with gear ready to go too. Since when are weathermen right? Never! Well, almost never. Gol'durn razzle-frassin' mother-father cocker spaniel...

Looks like I won't get to go out fishing again until the end of the month. :( No trout where I'm going to be for the next couple of weeks, 'cause I'm not going to that island this time...

Got home a little while ago and got 2 on dries. the water was low on the Lehigh as they are holding water back to prevent flooding. Head to White Haven

Never been there, but it's on my list. A bit farther than I have time to travel tomorrow. How long does it take you to get there? I would think about 1-1/2 hours or so.

That's about right maybe a few minutes longer. It's about 35 to 40 minutes above Allentown on 476.

Looks like we got over 7 inches of rain yesterday at Spruce Run:
