Actually, there's a lot more to the Libertarian drug policy than pot, but with a legislature consisting of Republicans and Democrats, it's the only "drug" he's likely to get legalized in the near future.

If you set the drug issue aside.....

Most of the issues where Libertarians seem to side with Liberals, are battles that the conservatives have already lost. Any changes would be incremental.

Most of the issues where Libertarians seem to side with Conservatives, are battles that are still being fought. He could benefit the conservative cause on these.

To me, the important one... A libertarian President is unlikely to appoint "Activist Judges", who are going to restrict our rights or raise our taxes "from the bench", that's the function of the legislature.

I agree, a libertarian stands for reduced government, so all those liberal causes are no place for the government to intervene, this is where the conservatives lose me...they talk smaller government but preach making abortion illegal, also the conservatives "preach" about god a lot...this loses me as well, again, this is no place for government, so shut the F up about it....smaller government and people being allowed to live the life they want, within the realms of reason and sanity of course...fiscal conservatives and social liberals is the best way to describe the present day libertarians....kinda' like the founding fathers.....FREEDOM!!!!! "

As far as the drug policy, Johnson would like to legalize everything, stop the war on drugs and make drug problems a medical issue.....more people have died fighting "the war on drugs" and more money has been spent than need be.....this approach will save lives and money, I believe......the people who are going to do drugs will get them whether they are legal or not, kinda like the conservatives stance on guns.....
