Ban Drift Boats from the upper WB

Nothing better than a wooden drift boat with a UHMW bottom, slicker than goose shit.

Well there are lots of things better than wooden drift boats, but when it comes to running supper skinny waterI would say a good looking, well built wooden boat with a UHMW bottom is hard to beat.

But, I am lazy now and love my jet sled.

Fished with some college buddies (they were all spin-fishing) on the upper main on saturday. The river was more crowded than I've ever seen it. From the Stockport launch I counted nine waders and six boats within view, and the float from Junction pool to Buckingham was basically bumper to bumper.

The deal is that the Beaverkill and EB are too low to fish now, so all the fall fishermen are cramming into the same section of river. Unless the Beamoc system gets some rain, skip the western Catskills and head to the Poconos or spring creeks. It's not worth the trip right now.

Fishing was great in the upper main the week before. Guess the word got out. Not bad at all the prior weekend in terms of crowds. Of course one could fish downstream of Buck but the river there is devoid of trout.

...which is why I didn't even bother mentioning it.:)

The above pics make a good argument to stay in a drift boat and not get out until you are near safety. If i had to wade anywhere near that crowd i would carry a rape whistle
