A Wednesday evening

With the cooler weather on Wednesday evening I opted to leave the kayak home and do a little bank fishing for pike. I donned a long sleeve shirt and loaded up with insect repellant in anticipation of deer flies and the Zika scourge.

On my first cast I had a pike grab that I was unable to hook up with, and as would have it, that would be the situation for the rest of the evening for pike. I finished up with six takes, of which I could not get a hook set on any of them. The takes were all tentative, not the usual smash and grab. It was almost as if they were just grabbing the fly and playing with it.

I did however not get the skunk as I was surprised with a really nice largemouth bass of just about four pounds.

This fish really smashed the rabbit strip diver and made some nice jumps before coming to hand.

The wetlands are now in full bloom with the wild hibiscus or swamp rose mallow.

It was a pleasant evening to fish the river banks with cool temperatures and surprisingly no flies or mosquitos to contend with.

I was kayak fishing yesterday on Shohola Lake. Got crazy amount of fish but everything small. Heading out around 11am to do some exploring around Neversink Reservoir.

Great post, but you misspelled one word several times and I feel the need to correct you. The correct term is pikes.

We'll be waiting with bated breath on the new video. :)
