Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I haven't fished it but given that the last 1/3 of head is interchangeable I suspect it's a good bet especially if u need to throw a tip and if fishing in the wind (the longer standard 35' scandis + xtra tip/leader can be tricky in wind )
Shoot me a PM w rod details and I can make some suggestions
word of advice when i first got heavy into swinging i would fish the SR hard w skagit/tips/big flies since thats what i was taught in the books/vids - learned quickly it wasn't the best method up there especially with low returns/low water/heavy pressure the last couple years. dont get me wrong...
I don't disagree that rod prices are getting out of hand but i had new found appreciateion for my One after a week on the Upper Missouri throwing 70 feet through nonstop 20-30mph winds. I snapped the rod 2 days into the trip and was severely under-gunned / inaccurate for the remainder. that said...
I'm increasingly tempted to make an erie trip lately just can't get over the quality of fish on the SR.. they are downright prettier and obviously larger specimens which in comparison make erie fish look like pequest broodstock. i think ill stick to my 1 fish a day in pulaski
agree with everyone but will however add that the extended butt section of switch rods is a huge bonus when fighting the big boys i really cant see myself going back to a single hander for the SR
jim a bunch of us were up. next time shoot me a text beforehand. fishing was good however most if not all of the action was had on bugs in lfz. swung altmar to pineville saturday only had one grab.
several fish to hand this weekend. beads stones and swung wets all worked.
good times w the gang (chris, jc, phil, jim)
despite screwing up my rod hand w frostbite on saturday.
a few pics from the coldest sh*t of my life.
0 degree sunrise in the barrel w/ jim (sunsignarch)
nice hen...
agreed unfortunately as far as i know that section still reverts to general regs rules during the spring stocking period so it can turn to a real circus there during some of prime months of the year
they did an unannounced stocking at the spillway in august (friend works at hatchery). water was crazy low that month and once word got out that fish were back poachers cleaned them out accordingly. we've seen it so bad at times having to call warden on russians for fishing worms under indi's...
the pequest is for lack of a better word, shit, compared to what it was prior to the fish kill. low flows and poachers pretty much cleaned the place out. my folks live 2 min away from here so its more or less my home stream.. hope it recovers this spring. (talking tca area specifically)
