All saltwater fans, Here are my observations from yesterday and today.
Fished last evening, the tide turn from my buddies flats boat in the Manasquan. During the slack tide, came across a few huge pods of peanut bunker with a few small blues under them. They were easy catches. As the tide started to rush out, picked up my first striper, I wouldnt even call it a schoolie. About 15 inches. Within about 30 minutes, we got more into the lower end of the slot range fish, finally topping of the night with an striper a bit over 10 lbs on the Boga, estimated about 31 or so inches. 9 stripers boated in 3 hrs. not a bad night. I did drop another fish that seemed larger than the largest one but the tide was moving pretty good so who knows.
Headed to sharkriver Inlet this morning, outgoing tide and nothing going on. stayed until about 10 then headed back to Pt pleasant. Walked up to the beach with a few people to just relax and when I got there, just outside of the massive amounts of lettuce in the water, was a pretty large school of Spanish Mackeral pounding the surface. This tool place for about 30 minutes, then they were gone.
Loads of peanuts in the rivers and a few starting to go out of the inlets. I thnk the albies should start showing once the peanuts become more concentrated.
Thats about it. Decent striper fishing, nothing else to really talk about.
