I get a lot of questions from you masochists that want to help TU plant trees and shrubs. And I thank you for that! Here's an update on fall projects:
I am lining up some riparian restoration projects for this fall on the Musky. On Friday, Oct. 9th I have 30 M&M Mars employees out for a half day to plant and cage several hundred native trees and shrubs along rt. 57 just above the Penwell Dam in lower Mansfield Twp. I may need help on Saturday the 10th to finish any work we don't get done on Friday. Check back here for an update on Friday night the 9th.
We have a second planting whose date is not yet pinned down, but likely in October or early November at the former Tilcon Quarry site on State Park land which would be in Mount Olive Twp. As this gets firmed up, I'll include a new thread and post details.
The third major riparian buffer project is for the property at the former Fiber Mark paper mill (now owned by IPP) in Holland Twp. just below Cypher's Road. We are only planting the Hunterdon side although both sides need it. I do not yet have permission from the Warren side owner to plant his field yet, but that may change. This project is being sponsored by our Ernie Schweibert chapter and they should have several warm bodies to help, but we can always use some more. This is slated for mid-October. Again, I'll post details as they firm up.
Thanks in advance for all of you who will be coming out to help! Together we can make this a much better trout fishery!!
