Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

I am going to Wappingers falls? NY, Beacon, ny, and Central Jersey, i think dayton, not sure, i know its about an hour and a half south of newark. I am looking for some good holes. not wanting to waste time fishing pay ponds with 1000 bait-chuckers catching cats. any stream or river, lakes are cool, but ive cought the trought bug, rivers are the best. I was definatly going to bring my waders, and was thinking about a float tube, would i need it? i usually fish a little 7'6'' 3 wt, and my nymphin stick, i wont need any big boy rods will I, 8-9? I am in search of trout, but smallies are fun too. any suggestions, ill trade my knowledge of southwest and montana idaho area if anyones interested, also, is there any list of guides for this area, i guide in the summers in alaska usually, but i wanted to find a new gig for this year. I do a lot more soin and baitcasting with clients, but i am more than comfortable with a fly rod in hand. thanks for reading,

I'll leave trout tips to the experts. If you like catching smallies on a fly rod, as I do, you can have a good time floating the main stem of the Delaware anywhere below Callicoon. You can also pick up walleye, trout, shad and the occasional striper near Narrowsburg or the Roebling bridge if you've got some slightly heavier gear. For smallies, fish buggers in dark colors near weedbeds and big rocks. (There's tons of water between Callicoon and Port Jervis that fits this description.)

13 views and no help?! Do right for me!
Be patient, it's possible that no one familiar with that area has seen it yet,

Meanwhile, here are some links to lists of public access locations for fishing in NJ:

You can get a license and a copy of the regulations at many tackle shops,
or online.

TIGHTlineZ,

There are no trout streams in Central New Jersey. A very few are stocked but are usually emptied by the end of April. LMB and Perch are the ticket for this area. For a trip to the Dayton area lake fishing is the way to go and there are many lakes within a short drive.

Davidson Mill pond and Farrington lake are just north of there and they are trout stocked. Branard lake in Cranbury is another place to fish plus there are a few hidden lakes in the area that can be fished from the shore easily.

Further out is Carnagie Lake in Princeton and the canal both have fish. The Stony Brook in Princeton is stocked but again it is usually fished out by the end of April.

Your best bet for Central Jersey is Google Maps. Find a lake and go to town.

Oh by the way two hours is not long to wait for anyone to answer about any area in New Jersey. Today is opening day of trout season. You want good information don't be so pushy, just wait for it. If you bothered to read any other posts or threads on this site you would know we are very helpful but sometimes we are doing other things but we will get to you. If you want info about the other locations I would suggest you chill out, you still have plenty of time.

I'm about 10 minutes north of Dayton. let me know when your around maybe we could hook up one weekend or I'll point you to some decent places not to far from there. Theres some real nice water within an hours drive of Dayton. :hubbahubba: Send me a PM if you like.

Im not pushy, just most forums are answered pretty quick. i appreciate it! plus im on the west coast pal, land of chill. I wasnt being pushy either. pushy is the last paragraph in your post, bro. but i do appreciate all help from you and evreyone else. just antsy about fishing back there. im trying to catch trout in every state that has them, and havnnt fished back east since i was a wee little lad.

Everyone went fishing today that's why no one answered that fast. South Branch Of The Raritan is not that far from Newark.

Not sure were dayton is but any were in Nj is within an hours drive to the shore, the stripers should be going good then bring your big sticks and give them a try. If your going to be near the Pt pleasant area let me know if you want to try for these .
