Farmington Fishing Bible

was out in the farmington during these past three days...river is rolling slow but a ton of great hatches early morning and late afternoon in the ususal spots...got some good info for the "fisherman's bible for the Farmington river" (P. Chadziewicz) has to be 100 spots in there I never fished...I picked it up in New hartford, But I guess these have it right over the boarder at the HRO...
slot between 14 and 20 browns and rainbows from the boneyard downstream...will try a few of the spots from the fishersmans bible and return the results
Just an ad on here...found out '"fishingbiblesdotcom" has all the links and page views...more importantly...has on the last page USGS for the flow for Riverton (off of old rt 8) and Unionville (downstream a ways) I think the fly shop in New Hartford carries these numbers also (upcountry)

I fish the Farmington on a regular basis and I cannot express how much I love the book. It is a great addition to those familiar with the river or just looking to explore. The color photos, GPS locators and overall general tips are well worth it.

K -
no **it the best guide book on the farmy...every spot...crazy.. I just got back from an afternoon in section three (southern west branch) my buddy wanted to head back into Ct for a copy...yet we found it on line
for anyone else looking ...lulu.com then punch in author p. chadziewicz

K where do you usually hit? We should hook up one day on the Famed Farmington... They're nailing everything (at leastthis afternoon) I gotta run...too many PBribbons ;:)

I love Ovation Pool but I am saddened that condos are going to go near the riverside by the factory and who knows if fishing will still be alloted. Another fave is Canal Pool and the Pipeline too! I also have a few secret spots out and about...

I am shooting to get up there sometime in October. It's hard to find a buddy to go with from down here. I tend to fish solo, as not many ladies fish in the NJ area, but up there...it's awesome to see all people enjoying time on the river.

was out in the waters oh the Devil come to me,whispered his taught, from a limb upon a tree,..told me I'd catch whatever I want,..oh that devil, kept whispering that taught,...I tried to ignore , so I flicked my wet flies,..tried the dries,..streamers, and some sheet that I tied,...

No fish to be caught,..that whipser did not die,..kept a going,..brought a tear to my eye,..

to be continued..?...(Randy)

sad story
should have bought the fisherman's bible we're talking about.
Maybe the story would have went

turned open the book
to page thirty three
there was the pool
that would eventually house me
I ventured to the spot
locked the car all up tight
knew I'd be gone for a bit
with the trout I was planning to fight
cast the daily hatch...
yet I knew that wouldn't do
went down below with an emerger
I then got a dozen times two two
they fought like pirates
protecting their booty
I gave drag when I needed to
and whistle tootie fruitie
I visted another hole
before the day was done
got skunked minus a handful of Parr
yet the expeirience was fun....

I found this book by accident, yet truely want to say it is the BEST thing going for the Farmington.
I was one of many who would pay for a guide and hit only the TMA...and then return to them on my own. Since referencing this book I've hit many of the spots south of New Hartford, with OUTSTANDING results.
Trying to get friends involved...or at least serve as company when I venture to the Farmington I've attempted to purchase additional copies yet it's not an easy feat. Took me a ton of phone calls to finally find a shop that had it in stock.

I guess with good reason. The book is outstanding and would be a reference for the Farmington for all anglers like flick's book (recently re-published) is for those wanting to match the hatch.

Agreed!
(as far as availability, I guess all the locations posted on the site are in stock- I put the site addy down in book recommendations)

Nobody fishes the Farmington anymore.........it's too crowded :dizzy:

Expansion of the TMA, in my opinion, will only make it worse

You have to look in the regs book for particulars, but the entire river is open until the last day of February, then after that the strictly put and take areas are closed until the 3rd Saturday in April. There are seasonal TMAs that are open year-round but put and take at certain times of year.

Don't know about you people, but when I read stuff like this from this guy I sometimes stop and wonder what really goes on inside that pea brain of his.

This is reason ONE why you should keep your children off drugs.

Please... please don't continue....
