Book about New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Now Available

A few months ago I created a thread that I was publishing a book that included the story of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance.

The book is now available. It is called "Color the Green Movement Blue: A Remedy for Environmental Health." (Section Two is devoted to the story of the NJOA.)
'

About the book

"Color the Green Movement Blue: A Remedy for Environmental Health" is an attempt to systematically remedy environmental health by means of establishing a culture of ecology, which is founded on an understanding of ecological relationships, the precepts of conservation and a blue-collar value system. A blue-collar value system is key to establishing a culture of ecology-it includes acknowledging and studying the higher order (God or Mother Nature) inherent in the design and workings of ecosystems, participation in the hands-on activities of angling and hunting to gain a facility with the concept of conservation and unionizing conservationists into a grassroots coalition to advance common interests through political activism. I call this approach to environmental health "blue-collar conservation" and its undertaking coloring the green movement blue.

"Section One: The Philosophical Eye" unlaces the ties that bind us to the world's ecology. To engage in philosophy is to investigate a truth, and there is an element of rebellion in truth seeking. "The Philosophical Eye" is my own uprising against a "green movement" that has lost its way-a movement that labors to "preserve" a thing in the name of environmental good in spite of there being no such invention as preservation in the natural world. It is also my attempt to explain and promote "blue-collar conservation" as a viable means of attaining environmental health and to show how this practice can be used to establish core values for environmental awareness. Core values are key aspects of guiding societal conduct and can be used to develop a culture of ecology; an authentic method of environmental stewardship.

"Section Two: The Founding of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance." This section tells the dramatic story of the NJOA. It is an organization that puts into practice that which is preached in section one. It is the chronicle of the blue-collar conservationist engaged in grassroots political activism. The New Jersey Outdoor Alliance is an endeavor that takes both philosophical and pragmatic principles of conservation and introduces them to the public and legislators by means of education. Conservation education is the basis for advancing sound environmental policy.
'

"Section Three: Metaphorically Speaking" is a compilation of stories that give sweet reprieve from the thinking in sections one and two, but convey the essence of why hunting and fishing are important to blue-collar conservation. Stories are a wonderful form of expressing a thing in ways that can denote another, and the academic calls this "metaphoric language." It is one thing to learn by formal education and entirely another to glean from one's experience.

"Section Four: Odds and Ends" is this middle-aged man's hodgepodge, which adds depth and relevance to the matters contained in this book. Science has proven that the courses of treatments can extend in many different ways. "Color the Green Movement Blue: A Remedy for Environmental Health" is merely one of these ways.

Q: Are you trying to make money for yourself from this book?
A: I wrote and self published the book, which means I paid for all expenses to have the book produced and printed. I have not received any advance monies for writing the book.

Q: What will you do with any proceeds from sales of the book?
A: There is little chance that book sales will cover the finances needed to publish the book, in other words, the book will most likely be a financial loss. However, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance for each book sold. This arrangement was agreed to by the officers of the NJOA.

Q: Why did you write the book if you know you are not going to make money?
A: I enjoy writing and the story of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance is compelling. The genesis for the NJOA began long before the dramatic events that led to a political uprising by anglers, hunters and trappers that defeated two animal rights legislators. It is a story that begins with an understanding of the critical role conservation plays in creating and maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Q: Are you trying to self-promote?
A: I am trying to promote an understanding of the difference between conservation and the preservation philosophy of the modern day green movement, the latter of which is slowly suffocating nature. The book is also meant to show the benefits of angling and hunting as they relate to environmental stewardship and to detail the importance of the unionizing conservationists to educate the public and legislators about the damage being done by animal extremists and preservationists. It's that simple.

Q: Do you have ambitions to run for public office?
A: No

Q: Do you get paid for being Chairman of the NJOA?
A: No. The NJOA is an all volunteer organization and nobody is paid. In fact, we do not reimburse ourselves for travel or any other expenses associated with the performance of our duties.

Q: Is there anything else we should know?
A: Yes. I'd like you to buy the book, read it and become involved in promoting the outdoor experience and to participate in environmental stewardship. Ideally, I'd like readers to come to the realization that they, too, are committed to the principles and mission of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance.
