Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
Does anyone know the name of this lodge on the other side of Fat Nancy's. Anyone in the area who could get me the phone# as you drive by it.
Got it already - The drift boat inn.
Thanks.
How important fly lines are when it comes to the bigger rods and fish? I grouped together the type of fish I target by rod weight and if I were to walk into a fly fishing shop I would see a line for each type listed below. Do I really need that many lines?

I'm in a search for a steelhead/salmon fly line for my 7wt rod and when I think of how we fish for them it's very different from the typical fly fishing. Steelhead is all about long roll casts and line mending so I wonder how important the line is in this case? Do I go for $100 - Scientific...
I'm looking for new reel for my 7wt rod with a decent drag. I'll be using it mostly on freshwater (steelhead, smallmouth) as well as some saltwater.
I really like the Orvis Mirage design - any thoughts?
Thanks and Happy New Year.
My friend's dad owns a property on the Neversink and he's claiming that he also owns half of the river. Is that true?
I don't have any more info about the property lines etc but he definitely doesn't own any land on the other side if the river.
I've been reading some fishing related quotes and must share some with you. Enjoy...

My first Hendrickson and Catskill style dry fly.
Is the tail okay? I was trying to keep it straight and level with the hook shank but the hackle wouldn't stay together. I'm not sure if this is my hackle/material or is it me.
How many days are left until the first hatch?
Ever since I started tying my own flies my boxes are getting more crowded every day. In addition to that I hate losing flies while fishing and I'll do everything I possible can to save/recover them.
Here is my estimate per season:
dry flies - 15
nymphs - 25
salmon/steelhead flies - 50
My first polish woven nymphs. This weekend is all about polish nymphs and polish style nymphing. More pics and flies to come.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
We're going to Tulum, Mexico in October and I was wondering if anyone on this forum ever fished there. We'll be staying in cabanas right on the beach and I won't be renting any charter boats. Beach fishing is all I have. Any tips highly appreciated.
Thanks.
Hit a wild trout stream yesterday for the first time after the long and hot summer. Water levels were good, temps were good, and the fishing was great. I'm glad to report that they the fish have survived the tropical summer we had here in NJ this year.
