Thinking of picking up a Salmon/ Steelhead set up, have only used spinning gear for these fish so far, but I am really only interested in fly casting anymore.... My question is what is a good weight for both, I assume I will be a bit heavy for steelhead and a bit light for salmon, but I can deal...

Was fishing with a partridge and orange soft hackle and doing ok, so I looked around on the web for a dry that is close and found this guy, it has the same color as the wet fly but is tied catskill style....took it out for a spin and got a nice rainbow......give it a try.
