Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Global Warming a Hoax, don't worry you will still pay for it.

I for one am Libertarian. In today's government there is hardly a left or a right. They are all one in the same as clearly shown by the current administration carrying over many of the lasts programs. "I will pull all our troops out of Iraq!!" (and then send them to Afghanistan)

Like was stated, a good majority of fisherman in general are moderate, but there are a few who can lean one way or the other. At the end of the day does it matter, not really. I have emailed and sent letters to senators and congress people, it does nothing. Unless you are a lobbyist with a butt load of money to contribute to their campaign, they could care less what you have to say. It's unfortunate and disgusting and Americans need to take back America.

CT, You Libertarian SNAGGER!

I'm an ultra right wing conservative. No wonder I catch more Steelies than you.

Cdog

I read this thread with discust.

CT you're a SNAGGER for starting this thread!

You are a snagger! Then don't read it SNAGGER!!! No pictures of skams, if I catch one, for you! I am keeping them all to myself!

Taxes? Thats B.S. If it costs me a little more to do whats right for the world so be it.....

OK then you wont mind paying double for your gas or electric bill? How about more at the pump? I work at a job that is controled by the oil markets, and before this bill was even voted on we recieved a call from our supplier. They told us if the bill got passed, expect to pay .85 on the dollar more for liquid asphalt, or any oil based product.

I have read the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence (not law) and the Federalist Papers (also not law - but boy-oh-boy do you Conservatives seem to think that they are), non of which are relevant to my post. I was trying to make the point that there was plenty of information available to follow this bill and be aware of its contents (and changes to its contents) during the month or so leading up to its passage by the House.

Actually what you did was make an assumption and I presented to you some facts in rebuttal. The bill was being re-written as it was passing through the house vote. Also you do what a lot of folks do when having a discussion. You ignore what doesn fit your view and then throw out labels. Conservatives/right wingers and conservatives do the same thing liberals etc... Never said that the federalist papers were law but are in fact a vital piece of our history as they give voice to what our FOUNDING FATHERS were thinking about. You know the guys that helped give birth to our country. If you have read all that and still feel comfortable with what is taking place in our government today than all I can say is GOD help us all!!!

Wow! A government report on climate change! I wonder what I'll find there? How about some peer-reviewed science that unequivocally shows that CO2 causes the Earth to heat up?

So you're ok with passing sweeping, pork fattened legislation, on something that hasn't been scientifically proven?

if you care about this issue and want to stay informed don't rely on Rush, Buchanan and the rest of the right wing airbags.

I don't even listen to any of those guys. This bill was rammed through the house, because they came down with a three hundred page ammendment (well Henry Waxman did) at 3:09 in the morning!

I think everyone needs to care about this issue. It affects everyone.

"This is a tax on anyone who drives a car, buys an American-made product, or flips on a light switch. It will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs overseas to countries like China and India, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America." Minority Leader John Boehner

I don't think you got to the sources section because it explains that the report relied on peer reviwed data---remember, facts are critical

I'm not quite sure why this is in the "education" forum

It's not...it's in the <TABLE class=tborder cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt1 width="100%">Government & Fishing Wanna talk about your gripes with our Government and Fishing... This forum is for you.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

And those peer reviewed articles are???? References? I have access to just about every current reputable scientific journal there is, and guess what? Very little in the way of peer-reviewed support for man-made climate change. But hey, this is politics, and science doesn't matter here. All these politicians went to Harvard or Yale, so they must be right, and we're all dumb.

Unless you are a lobbyist with a butt load of money to contribute to their campaign, they could care less what you have to say. It's unfortunate and disgusting and Americans need to take back America.

Now we are getting somewhere. Unfortunately I don't see a benign end in sight. You have a government (almost all levels) that is SO out of touch with a middle class who is footing most of the countries tax burden and could care less about the poor except for buying their votes with "social" programs. I don't see how this gets solved without total econonmic colapse or worse... Even though there are some good politicians (even a president maybe) that truly care, they are handcuffed, bullied, and undercut by the enormous amounts of greedy criminals.

Also, name one piece of legislation that doesn't result in more costs to the taxpayers. Its not just this bill.

When they can accurately predict the weather a couple of day in advance I will put more faith in their peer reviewed data. There are much bigger agendas in play than you can possibly imagine.

There was also no supporting evidence for the all the pork that fattened Haliburton et al.

All that pork that fattened Haliburton was voted on numerous times and passed by both democrats and republicans. Why dont you do yourself a favor and ask what company could move operations half way around the world and provide infrastructure services in a similar manner. There are but a handful wih the capability. Of course all roads lead back to Iraq...even climate change discussions.

Are you an expert on the limitations of all of our imaginations and knowledge?

But there was no evidence.

There is no evidence of man made global warming either. How about sticking to the discussion at hand. You want to talk about Iraq just start up a other thread. I'm game if you are.

One of the many potential pitfalls from this bill should it one day become law is that it might actually lessen domestic oil/gas production due to higher taxes on fossil fuels which would drive the need for even more foreign consumption. Talk about the wrong direction towards domestic energy production and lessening our reliance on foreign oil.

My complaint: 300 pages added to the bill with insufficient time to read or let the voters read and understand. The same happened with the Stimulus Bill and with the Budget. We were promised by our current President that this would never occur.

We need rational debate on these issues but instead our politicians just ram a load of crap onto 1 bill under the guise of the environment. I am all for a clean environment and ridding ourselves of dependance on foreign oil from countries that want us to die. This bill in its entirety is a disaster. There are probably some aspects that most of us would agree with, but a lot of poorly thought out components. Our only hope is the Senate, so our hopes are dim....

This bill and the healthcare bill and the illegal immigration bill currently being written are basically done deals now that the Sen. Franken will be seated probably next week. So while the discussion on this board goes on its really a foregone conclusion that we will have some form of nationalized healthcare, a new energy bill, and immigration bill. The fall session will likely see a run at social security reform. So by the end of 2009 (in the span of one year) its a good bet that you will have a radically altered U.S. of A.

This thread has gotten off topic and covered many other political issues. Sticking with the thread title on global warming, how many of you also agreed with the last dumb-ass in office to not get our country involved in the Kyoto Protocol international environmental agreement? Here laid the oppurtunity to show we were a world leader in environmental protection and join the list of over 100 countries who ratified this and helped cut pollution. I wont list any websites with info on the Kyoto plan in fear I may be labeled as a dem or rep (im neither) but the info is there. Bush felt it wasnt in our best interest and Mcwheelchair was silent on the issue. Guess every country in the f-ing world is wrong on global warming!!!!!!!!!!!! And look at history.. its always cost money to fix problems. If it aint broken, dont fix it. Well we're broken people.

Well now you went brought in the good old United Nations. An organization so filled with inefficiency, corruption, and outright waste I have to wonder if you actually thought this would be a positive argument or an attempt at levity!!! You wont list any sites..C'mon now Bigbow let it rip. By the way not only did President Bush not agree to ratify so did President Clinton. But hey its a new day in D.C. Im sure President Obama will send that to the senate for ratification ASAP. By the way none of whats being proposed in the energy bill today comes close to the requirements for Kyoto. Fact is none of the scientists can agree on what levels of greenhouse gas reductions would be needed to ensure no adverse climate impacts. Reductions of up 60% are often thrown out there but no one can say if thats enough.

Lets not forget that little issue of are greenhouse gases even causing a rise in global temperatures? Uh, no proof presented yet. Reducing emissions and decreasing pollution is great, its something we can all agree on. But don't create mass hysteria by claiming thats its causing the world to heat up, just so you can get your self-serving legislation through.

The sad part is America is for sale and has been for sale to the highest bidder. I can only imagine what is going to happen in the coming months and years. This is something out of George Orwell's 1984.
