EPA 'accidentally' spills contaminated mine water into Colorado's Animas River
The EPA should change it name to the Environmental Pollution Agency. While inspecting a Mine in Colorado the EPA inspectors released a plume of mine waste into the Cement Creek a WTS that now contains Arsenic Lead and other heavy metals. The plum has contaminated the Animas River and will soon reach the San Juan River in New Mexico. What I don’t get is how does (inspecting a mine) cause a release of 1 million gallons of toxic waste that can positional devastate not 1 but 3 trout streams and Lake Powell. How is that possible? I could see if they were actually attempting to clean the mine and there was an accident. An inspecting is an observation. What were they inspecting it with explosives? This is not the only problem The EPA is silent on what caused the release and the amount of toxins that the plum contains. Who will investigate what caused this disaster the EPA? What I found to be the saddest aspect to this whole debacle is; there are only a few articles on the censored web that name the EPA as the culprit of the discharge. What would the EPA do to a business or an individual that had the same thing happen? Will the EPA charge their inspectors with an environmental violation and the appropriate fines? I am all for inspecting cleaning up the waste in sensitive areas. Don’t send the most inept morons to do it.
