I've been looking for a good quality LED light for some time, and have been shying away from them because most of the better quality ones use Lithium batteries, and tend to be pricey.
The other day at Lowe's I saw a LED light that seemed to fit my requirements: a Coast LED Lenser Tactical V2 Power 6 Chip "Dual Color" (LL7736D), and was priced at $29.95.
It has six LED's, five white ones that surround a single red one located in the center of the reflector. It came with a nylon belt holster, mini carabiner, and lanyard. Even though it had three AAA batteries already installed, there were three new batteries also included in the package.
There are two power switches on opposite sides of the body. One that operates the white LED's, the other the red LED. The red LED switch is anodized red. The switch for the white LED's has a knurled surface, while the red LED switch surface is smooth so you can tell them apart in the dark. All body components are anodized aluminum, and the flashlight sections are threaded and gasketed with rubber o-rings for water resistance.
The white light LED's are extremely bright. It is hard to believe it is powered by only three AAA batteries. The red LED is very bright and allows you to work in the dark with no loss of night vision. Battery life is stated on the packaging as 50 hours.
The light is not focusable, but casts a fairly tight beam at close distances - not as tight as a maglight can be focused, but is very acceptable.
I am extremely impressed with the quality & performace of this light, and highly recommend it.
Features:
Lifetime Warranty
White beam / Red beam / Red and White beam
Crystal Reflector System
6 Diode-charged 1.25 watt light chip
24-carat Gold switch contacts
Lightweight Aluminum casing
3-3/4 Inch length
Includes sheath, belt clip and lanyard
Includes batteries (3 AAA)
