I used to consider myself a bit of a skeptic: yes, we do emit "greenhouse gasses" and otherwise create pollution.
Is it changing the climate? Well, the data appears to be inconclusive. But it can't be good.
Is it possible that we're contributing to, or accelerating a normal process of "warming"? Absolutely.
Is it possible that we've created an artificial climate that is changing, and may no longer support life as it does currently in a few hundred years? Possible. Let's keep an eye on the data while we calmly review our cuurrent emissions, and set accheivable goals for the future.
Would creating less pollution, emitting fewer tons of 'greenhouse gasses', AND using limited supplies of energy (especially foreign oil) more effeciently (thereby reducing our demand) be a better thing? Well, yahh...
Will free enterprise come up with new ideas and continue to refine current solutions as the price of foreign oil increases, as does the difficulty and expense of capturing fossil fuels in the US? Absolutely. American Way. Provided our government doesn't tax small business into non-existence...
Is sending money that we have to borrow over to third-world countries so they can accelerate their nuclear bomb programs a good idea, especially when it comes out of my pocket? F*CK NO.
