Backpacking Rod

WBDluver

Official NEFF pot stirrer
Does anyone have some suggestion for a good rod for backpacking. Not only does it have to pack down small but also something no bigger than 7 ft for small streams. im considering the Orvis Clearwater only because its hard to find that many making 6-7 ft rods. Not because of budget

Thanks

TFO
Sage
Loomis
Douglas

All have 7' or less models.

I have a Sage Response 7' 3wt that I have been fishing for a few years on small streams and have found it to be very good. It will also punch out a cast to 40-50 feet without any problem.
In the tube it measures under 26"

im a big Loomis fan but i think all their rods or 8-9 ft I will double check. Im looking for a rod 6-7 ft. I have an Albright 5wt 5 piece but its a 9ft. They come highly recommended to me from DC. I will check TFO.

. I guess it's getting harder for you to walk from your handicap spot to the boat launch

I just checked on the Loomis and it appears that the short rod is three piece, so that might eliminate that for you.
Winston has a 7' 2wt 4pc in the B III LS.

Give the Douglas upstream a look. 7ft 3wt 6piece. $425.00
I have heard nothing but good things about this fly rod.

I have a St Croix Avid 6 foot 3 weight that a bought especially for the Toms River but now use it on all but the largest rivers. Love the rod. It is 2 piece and Probably around $200.well you are making a huge mistake. Every time you refuse to take my advice it's a disaster.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I think im going with the Orvis Clearwater 6' 2 wt. It was suggested to me that if i like this type of fishing i then can trade up on the rod. or change size if i find the rod to small. I may be getting into something new here and will post pics of my backpacking adventure coming up in Sept.
