The LTD (Long Transitional Dun) was born as the result of a chess match with a Sulfur hatch on the West Branch of Pine Creek, in Central PA. It is hands down my most productive surface pattern, and has proven it's worth...
I would recomment using this platform to query the web. Almost any fly imaginable can be found with a pic and the flies meant to copy it. ALso, the Meck/Weamer book is an excellent streamside guide.
I use a Brodin, with soft nylon. Don't care for the rubber. I agree with some, a net can actually let you release a amp'd up fish with alot less struggle.
