Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I know the land below the Neversink Gorge is private but is the riverbed? That is -- if I were to hike out of the Gorge either wading or staying inside the high-water mark would I be trespassing or is the riverbed public?
Not that I'll be fishing the 'Sink any time soon since it's a worthless...
Reading the thread I was a little surprised at how much disinformation there was about the the Neversink. It was almost as if someone wanted to you to go waste an entire day getting lost in the woods.
(I was also shocked at how much CCM had to say on the matter since I thought the Wallkill was...
As the big day draws near, I've been thinking a lot about past posts/threads I've read and wanted to summarize what will no-doubt be written here by the end of this week.

1. I completely agree. I fished the Gorge last weekend and it was a total mob scene! Plus the open access road makes everything worse. Every 20 minutes or so there would be some dopey caravan of cars, trucks, and SUVs cruising along and checking out the water and looking for a place to pull...
Thanks for the tip. I'm basically just looking for a simple place to put a tent (insert joke about tent popping here) or even a driveway to park in a sleep...
I'm just tired of driving from NYC to the Gorge at 4:15am.
Of course, all of this is particularly dumb because the fishing on the 'Sink...
Agreed. The fishing isn't great and it's pretty tough even when it's good. I think I'll look at one of the campsites near the Gorge. Any recommendations? Cuddebackville?
I googled Lee Wulff over the weekend and found his obituary from the New York Times -- which was pretty amazing...see "Mr. Wulff made a bequest of an unnanounced sum to the Anglers Club, of which he was a member, so that the organization might "throw a happy party celebrating my long and...
Many thanks to everyone for being my moral compass.
Just for the record, the camping that I won't be doing wouldn't have involved killing/eating any fish. That would defeat the whole purpose, right?
Also, I would like to reiterate that the Gorge IS infested with (big) bears, (hungry) mountain...
CT -- will do with the pictures.
BTW, I think it's hilarious that this SR Report has 8 pages!!
It's like we wait all winter for spring to arrive and as soon as it gets hot -- all we can do is dream about standing in freezing cold water watching ice form on our guides.
Anyone else see the...
I wanted to try and start a clean post about SR but couldn't find the 'Post' button...
Anyway, I was thinking about heading up to the SR in a couple weeks...like before Aug 15.
Would anyone dissuade me from doing so? Is it a waste of time? I'd be happy with a brown or two...although an...
I was on the lower BFB a few weeks ago and had a similar experience. There were TONS of fish rising and every time i saw a rise, i just cast to the fish and it hit. After about 1 1/2 hrs I got...dare I say...bored and went home. I probably caught (and released) 20+ fish - easy.
I fished the...
