I went to school down there. fished both the s.holston and the watauga. Lots of fish, lots of water. You can fish there all year round. It is fantastic. Very much worth the trip. Mostly rainbows and browns. There are some real players.

Drk green, olive, yellow, silver. Square tail, white tips on fins=brookie.
brwn, yellow-gold, red spots w/black rings black spots = brown.

They should lock the gates at both ends. If the lots full, go some place else.
I would try the scroon have had great days there, or indian river up by gore they stock some big browns in there. plus there is a little creek up the by beaver book out fitters that deffinetly has brookies. I have got a few natives in the 10-12in. range in that creek can't remember the name...
