This occured to me the other day with a bunch of tippet spools in hand. If you want to figure out what size tippet to use, the formula is very simple. Take the size of your hook and divide it by 3. If you're using a size 20 fly then your tippet should be 6x. Using a size 16 would be 5x. Of...

I find that when a fish takes my hook a tad deeper than normal I can slide my ketchum release down my line and more easily remove the fly than with pliers. I would like to also mention that it works even better when I debarb or use barbless hooks. my 2 cents. tight lines
