Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
Barr Tungstones. Use Spiky squirrel dubbing, dark olive body, olive brown thorax has produced well. This has become one of my goto nymph patterns tied in beadhead and unweighted.
Give the tabou caddis a try as well using emerger hooks. They work great as a dropper or as the unweighted fly on a...
Try the Rio switch line in 7/8 wt. It's what I use when I indicator fish on my switch rods. I use an 11'9" 8 wt and use the 8/9, on my 11'6" 7wt I use the 7/8. Turns the whole setup over with ease and mends nicely.

I purchased this rod brand new and it carries the Orvis 25 year warranty, card is included with the sale.
Single hand 8'4" 3wt with mid-flex/medium action. It's one too many trout rods for me, as such, has seen little use and is in excellent condition.
$250 US shipped to the lower 48. Other...
Selling my Simms G3 Guide Pants in size large long. These waders typically come with a size 9-11 stockingfoot, however, I special ordered this pair with a 12-13 size stockingfoot.
These waders are in excellent condition and wore them approximately 20 times at best. I just cleaned them...
You made the right choice. Might I suggest the Rio switch line in 7/8 for the rod. It's the perfect line for indicator fishing. Add a 10' polyleader with some Maxima ultragreen and you are ready to swing streamers. I still haven't made it up to the river yet, waiting a few more weeks until...
It is that time of year again when the waters of the Salmon River will start to accumulate fish and the crowds that go along with them. Wondering what peoples plans are as they salmon start to trickle into the river. I am hoping to go up at least one time within the next few weeks to battle the...
I've done the whole trout switch thing several times over the past several years. I'm a big two-hand angler, but did not find it exciting or very productive when swinging on several NY streams and in Maine. The water I fish isn't big enough to really get an effective cast and swing, and trout...
While a year or so from now I'll be saying "I told you so" when you buy a two-hand rod, you will be happy with your decision, especially that you are going with a 10' rod. Make sure you get a salmon/steelhead taper line. It really makes a difference over a standard flyline for roll casting...
In my opinion, if your going to fish one rod on the SR and want to have the ability to nymph and swing, an 11'6" 7wt or 8wt switch rod is the way to go. Line it with Rio's Switch line on the high side (7/8 for 7wt, 8/9 for 8wt). This line allows you to indicator fish, or you can throw 10'...
