Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
Hi everyone!
Hoping to get on the water tomorrow. With all the rain recently, I am concerned water levels may be too high for wading. Can anyone help me understand normal flow vs 'too much water' for these rivers? ie, what is the measurement (flow vs depth) and where to look for current...
I am still relatively new to the sport, and this weekend I was fishing a deep pool (relatively still water--lake like).
I realized very quickly that I really didnt know what to do with my fly once I cast out to near where I saw fish jumping. In a current, I would let the fly drift. Here, I...
thanks for all the advice!
I ended up on the East Branch on Saturday pm. No luck by the bridge--got there too late to move anywhere...
Sunday, the temps on the Beaverkill were better. In the am, saw a couple of fish jump, but the pm was much better. Lots of jumpers--but all on the small...
Hi all,
Heading up to the Roscoe area this weekend, but the fishing reports on the Beaverkill & Willowemoc dont look too good (too warm).
I havent tried the East/West Branch(es) or Main Stem of the Delaware yet, but I am thinking I should aim there this time.
How has the fishing been on...
would the shops in Phoenicia have this map? I picked up the NY/NJ Trails Conference map... would that work?
Thanks for the help! Looks like I should have picked someplace closer to the East or West Branch to go camping this time of year :-(
Hi everyone,
Going camping this week, and was hoping to get some fishing in. I know the Esopus is very close to where we are going to be, but I just checked and the water is running about 75 (too warm for going after trout?)
Any advice on other areas to fish this time of year? Maybe I should...
I saw three snakes in the Beaverkill in one day (possibly same one, in three places, as I was working one stretch of the river)
Not sure of type--water snake, perhaps?
Is this area known for having a large snake population?
Thanks for the info! Hopping on to Netflix right now.... I also was planning on heading to a TU trip later this month... This month looks to be a good one for getting out there :-)
Hi all!
I have to drive to Vermont weekend of June 5, and am debating leaving Wednesday night to squeeze a day or two of fishing in somewhere along the way. I am leaving from the City, and usually cross over to VT around Glenns Falls, NY. Closer to Glenns Falls would be ideal, or anywhere...
