Amazing what happens in the City.

I never realized there were so many Brooklynites here. Has anyone tried fishing Prospect Park? I often run the PP loop and eyeball it as I pant past. -- Fly Rod

    Hook brand

Biot, Yeah, that's a bummer that Mustad is phasing out their old standards. I recently stocked up in anticipation that the cheaper Mustads will be history soon. One place that seems to still have a good inventory is: Hook & Hackle Fly Fishing Tackle, Fly Fishing Supplies, Fly Tying Supplies...

    Hook brand

Jamie, Since we're on the topic of hooks, one thing to keep in mind is there are no standards with hooks. So a Tiemco standard dry fly hook (#100) and a Mustad dry fly hook (#94840) will probably be slightly different. Even for a given manufacturer, there will be distinctions. For example...

    National Golden Trout Preserve

Hi Chris, I used to live out near San Francisco and have done a couple of trips into the Golden Trout Wilderness area that you are referring to. I'd put some pictures and links into this post, but I haven't yet achieved the magic number of 7 replies. I also did a conservation project with the...

    St. Croix Avid

Hey Tom, How old was the Avid you purchased? The older Avids had very soft actions. About 4 years ago St. Croix started using the same design for the Avids that they use in their higher end blanks (they called it IPC for integrated poly curve), which was supposed to eliminate transitional dead...
