Actually, ... I have no idea who makes it.

    Fly Wallets

Wow ! Nice. There is just something about leather streamer wallets. Nostalgia I suppose.

    Internet sales vs. fly shops

I guess I'm just lucky. There is a good shop less than 1 hours from home. The only section they don't have are two handed rods. They have Switch, but not Spey etc. We get all our material, equipment and clothes. They have a catalog posted on their web site, but clients usually phone in to...

    Whats everyone Tying now?

Salmon season isn't until mid June here, but we're working on filling up the dry box with Bombers! They aren't pretty flies, but they sure get the job done!!

Sage Launch 9' 5 Weight Setup

Any medium to light reel will do. DON'T overline the Launch. It is MADE to cast a 5wt so use a 5wt. The Launch loads pretty quickly. Use a WF line if you're not casting too far most of the time. IMHO, putting a heavier line on a rod is done too often 'cause anglers aren't using the right rod...

How do i swing a streamer?

And that is the reason we use this so much. The line is already tight, so when you get a take (in the summertime) it is just VICIOUS!! Another trick, ... if you seem to get refusals on a big streamer like a muddler minnow, ... go SMALLER by 2-3 sizes, put on a riffle hitch and do the same swing :-)

How do i swing a streamer?

Hiya Justyn, A streamer swing is the very easiest presentation to do. With a streamer, you cast across and down, .. that is to say, downstream about 45 degrees. You simply lay the line down and let the current pull your line, leader and fly back towards the near bank. Normally, you cast once...

A quick note from the "Far North" to wish you all a happy new year. Tight Lines and Screamin' reels to you all!

    Traveling with rods and reels

For "convenience rods", I carry on 2-3 4pc rods and reels which fit into an overhead. If I'm on an expedition, I'll check into special baggage LOCKED hard cases. All my locks use TSA numbered keys so an inspector CAN unlock them if they need to. Then again, I can also know who, when and WHY they...

Fast action rods - St. Croix Legend Ultra

Question: When you were casting the Ultra, ... what distance ?? I tried some St-Croix rods this season and the Ultra is (IMHO) med-rapid, but not stiff. When you reach back into the butt, it is pretty "soft". 99% of the casters I saw while they were trying the rod on a demo weekend were...

    Keep a trophy ??

Last Saturday, while waiting for friends to arrive, I dropped a line into a favourite pool. There are usually only small juvenile sea trout. Image my surprise when the line when tight, then started screaming out of the guides! The reel back spun on itself before I could palm it! Bird's nest...

Well priced fly fishing guides in the Catskills?

IMHO, I really think that Tom has the best idea. 7 i a group is tough and differing "interest" levels could make for some "disputes". I had a group of EIGHT last week so we split them into 2 groups with 2 guides. Even then, we split them into 2's and had them work different runs in pairs...

    pontoon tips

Congrats on a new 'toon. Mine is probably a bit bigger, it's a 3 man Scadden, ... but you can read the mods and accessories I use on the review page on my personal site: Outlaw Review Oh, ... you always need a river knife at hand and a PFD is a really good idea! Play Hard and Come home safe!

    Vice Advice- help

I use the Griffin Mongoose Blackfoot for trout and Salmon flies. No problem at all getting a nice solid hold, even for packing deer hair onto bombers and bugs. Liliane uses the Griffin Spyder. A lot less expensive. On my Mongoose, it seems to "clunk" through the shaft, but Ithinl I just don't...
