    I have fished both hard and alot...the Toms is cleaner yes, fish are ther and will eat flies streamers buggers caddis AND there are more fish in ther manasquan IMO because have had better success there with attracter and midge patterns BUT have seen more insect life on the Toms, go figure...

    This is the 1st am in 3 weeks i did not get up for the dawn patrol...the reason the catching has sucked. Very few fish...even the pluggers and jetty jocks are scratching their heads...it's just been to warm...these cooler nights with the strong westerlies should cool the inshore waters...

    I caught 1 a few years back in late oct. Way upstream below the old weir in farmingdale on a rooster tail...it was only about 15-16" fought like hell...beautiful colors almost looked like a steelhead ...but it was a brown very bright almost silver like sides..no picture sorry...     What are appropriate beach weather conditions for fly fishing in surf

    West is best, low tides until the 1st 2 hours of incoming. Low tide concentrates the fish and bait reveals,cuts, drop offs, holes and points as where to fish. Less water concentrates the fish. :)

    Anyone know what they are going to do there. Parking lot is blocked off, heavy equipment there....along the river is marked off and boundaries and hay bales installed....to controll sediment runoff...hope they dont screw it up.
