Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

What attributes make a great Fly-fisherman?

One thing I've noticed over the years, that many of the "greats" seem to have in common is ear hair. Some of them look as if they have squirrels nesting face first in their ear canal. Not sure about the value of THAT observation...

It's NOT something I'm striving for....
I guess, like a lot of things, you either got it or you don't...

Being hirsute is a sign of intelligence in men, according to Dr Aikarakudy Alias of Chester health centre, Illinois. He found 50 per cent of men with high IQs were hairy compared with one in 10 of the male population.

I must be one of the smartest bastards alive.......

So I went to the mirror and can confirm that the great ones do, in fact, have an overabundance of ear hair.

Send it to Lightenup in a bag and he'll tie up a few of my favorite nymph:

jeezus... you'd think an alpaca farmer would know how to use a pair of shears... :)

WHAT?!?

Before I snapped this pic, I spent twenty minutes with a hedge trimmer, hacking off the real heavy stuff .

I think I look distinguished (AND obviously intelligent)...

I've been following this thread with great interest and waiting for the number 1 key factor... If you don't look good, how the hell do you expect to catch anything?

You have to have an 3000.00 bamboo rod. A $500.00 reel, $650.00 waders, $160.00 wading shoes, Umpqua flies, silk fly line, etc... Make sure you have plenty of gel in your hair, pick your nose / ear hairs, pluck your eyebrows, etc...

What's the matter with you people? If you're not that guy, it's simple... you're not catching squat.

It sounds like Squat Lobster fishing can be expensive. Since you brought up the subject and it is just a curiosity. It is probably out of my means. What fly fishing techniques are involved in Squat Lobster fishing? What role does proper grooming and hygiene play in Squat Lobster fishing?
