Lightenup, It is a matter of preference , although I tye in my hackle and secure it up the post then wrap the hackle down the post so it is easier for me to tye it off at the head. I believe it creates a much more durable fly as you can put a few good strong wraps to hold it in. With a few coats...

Use to get them on jiggs in the south pocket out side the squan inlet .. They are like ghost there however sometimes they are there and most often they are not. Great eating fish when you manage to get some keepers.

Here are a few patterns tied up for next weeks adventure as well as preparing for the upcoming show season. Having fun at the old brassy vise ! :) And on the water get out there and fish guys the weather and water has been great !! :)

These are of my own design sunsignarcher working on both video and a book at the moment . When will they hit mainstream not sure as work has been getting in the way of play. Soon I hope ! Thank you all for your kind words ! As always having fun at the vise when I get the chance. :)

Thank you everyone !! TH I think the steel take these as a bait fish, bug or flesh as they eat all three while in the river. The brighter ones maybe more as an attracter. All I know is they work when fished properly.

With Steelhead season rapidly approaching I have been preparing with what little spare time I have between work and sleep . These will be going for a swim in a week or two can't wait !

Drennen is he way to go 6-8 lb works fine if you have a good reel .. No questions asked.. Tried all the rest Drennen is the best. I use Maxima for my main leader and Drennen for tippet section.

Never to nice Jeff for lake run trout you know, but it is fun to see just exactly what you can catch them on and how gentlemanly you can do it. It beats nymphing for fish that supposedly do not eat, but chase down a swung egg pattern like it was their last meal.. Losing rigs and retying sucks...
