    Vcb 6/2

Went to Van Campens yesterday, fished early from 7-9:30 due to the way our waters have been warming up recently. Usually stays somewhat cold all year, and it was yesterday morning, but wanted to play it safe anyway. Tons of bug activity, fish rising the whole 2.5 hours I was there. Lots of...

    Wild Browns?

Fished the Black River today in Hacklebarney, above the TP section. Landed 9, 3 clearly stocked, the other 6 I originally thought were wild, but now I am not sure. They were caught in the TM section, where I have caught maybe 3 or 4 wild fish in the past three years. It seems odd that I land 6...

    Wts 3/23

Hit a local WTS today. There was a pretty nice mayfly hatch in the afternoon, couldn't tell what kind of mayfly though. The fish were rising consistently. Two were caught on light hendricksons and the other two on Adams. Probably missed about 10. Overall a good day on the water.

    NJ Steelhead?

Landed a massive rainbow in High Bridge today. 25 inches approximately and fat and I noticed it had the shape and altered coloration of a steelhead. I know there has been some rumors about steelhead in the Raritan and wondered if there was any way possible a steelhead could make it all the way...

    Streamer Techniques

I"ve been successful with streamers for a while now, but fast water has always been tricky. I usually try to get a dead drift in fast water, and it has yielded many fish, but I have a feeling this might not be the best way to fish them. What's the best way to fish streamers in fast water? What...

    Yellow Worms in Fish Fillet

I caught a smallmouth from the NBR about two weeks ago, and filleted it, thank god, because I found small yellow worms actually embedded in the meat. They were 1/4 inch long at most, and moved more like small leeches than worms. Does anyone know what these are? Is it just a rare occurrence...

Any TRUE wild trout streams left?

This is something I have been wondering about for a long time. I know there are listed wild trout streams for nj and pa, but many of them I have been to have browns and rainbows in them, which means they must have been stocked by the state. Even some of the brook trout streams I have been to...

    Carp on the fly

I have been wanting to catch a carp on the fly for a long time. I have never fly fished for carp before and was wondering if anybody knew of a few good spots, maybe some of the lesser known creeks or ponds. I really don't want to fish the delaware, and I wanted someplace in north central nj that...

    Urgent: Water Levels!!!!!

I have just come back from a two week vacation and I decided to hit the Black River. I went to one of my favorite pools that had been a hot spot all season. I was surprised that I saw fish everywhere upon arrival. In fact, I could hear them as well. The water was so shallow that they could...

    Musconetcong River

Ive tried the musky several times with no success, yet i've had success on the SBR, Black River, and many other streams with basically the same setup (prince nymph and pheasant tail under an indicator.) Where are the best spots perhaps with the fewest amount of people. Also what would you...
