One very frustrating day with trout rising and no hits I was shocked when I felt a trout try to swim through my legs. He got stuck because my feet were too close enough together for him to get through. The punch of him trying to get through was enough to jar me, I looked down and let him pass...

He may have been exaggerating, but I never once saw him put a fish back. Went out to the same spot just now and lo and behold! Dead trout (rainbow) on the bank. I threw it a little further back into the bush and wondered, "Did he (or someone else) leave it behind? Or is that a message - god...

Alan - I had a feeling people were taking fish out and then this weekend I saw two folks carrying trout away. None of which looked over 15". What is the limit in that area? There seems to be far fewer fish than before the season began. I did not get any (after the bass, who came right above...

Very nice fish...fishing and beer - my picture of heaven. Our upstate NY beer was Utica Club, produced at the Matt's Brewery in Utica. I think you can only get it in a small radius around the area. Always stock up when I get up there.

I am curious too. Can you fish them at varying lengths, or do you have to pull it to its full length? I have seen Japanese fishermen using them in Japan and always thought they were cane fishing. The first I saw this style is in old samurai movies...Zatoichi (the blind swordsman) was a master...
