    Ginger Quill

    So i tried to tye a "Dettes Ginger Quill" and this is what i came up with my tail suck and the head sucks also but i think the quill wing came out good any advice on setting the quill wing let me know

    John that is not an easy fly to tie, you made a good effort there.
    The wing needs to be more upright and the tailing material appears to be a bit soft.
    Try again your second efforts are always an improvement which is good thing as it means you are learning. Not bad for a first try.
    I believe I have a pic of one I tied. I'll post if I can find it.

    thanks ron i would have to agree i wasted a pair of wings allready trying to make them perfect this technique is going to take some time to perfect.. i have seen on sparse grey matter an example of the ginger quill check it out over there its wing structure is close to what i have.

    The wings look good on this one TF .. You see what does not please you in this fly as you practice on it it will come together for you.. Great attempt at this classic you are well under way.
