    Pike Co. PA. Streams

I was visiting a few old favorites today in Pike county, and what happened. Must have had a hell of a lot of rain in the last few days. Even my tiny brook trout creeks were a no no.

Sorry to hear your trip didn't work out but the rain lately has been ridiculous and relentless.
Hopefully you will have better luck next time.
    P.S
I really like the tackle shop picture.

It rained pretty hard yesterday early morning and again last night.

Yes I fish there a lot, but it getting harder and harder to find a place to park and the urban elite will post every inch of their property even if they own 10 ft of river bank and their house sits across the road.

To look good is to fish good

    Re: Pike Co. PA. Streams

The Lackawaxen is sort of my home turf. I've made at least one trip there the last eight years, and have rented a house right on the river for the month of June a bunch of times. Nice hendrickson and sulfer hatches. Actually, about as nice a put-and-take as can be found. Too bad they can't keep the temps down enough through summer to sustain a wild trout population.

In case you've never been... the crazy thing about BRK TRT's photos is that the stretch of river in that first photo is usually pocket water with exposed three foot tall boulders. The rain and flooding this year has been out of control - even without Irene.

Bright's Shop is sort of like the fishing shop you'd find on the side of a stream in some kind of utopian fly fishing fairy tale, and Charlie Bright is pretty much the guy who would be behind the counter. Gentle soul, always ready with some solid suggestions. Fished with Ivan three or four times and he's schooled me good as well. He and Charlie are old-style wet fly guys, and they catch fish by the dozen.
