WTF?!! Attack On The Salmon River

It means he's from a yuppie enough part of the Catkills not to know what the real hard core boondocks of NYS are like.

When I was young I thought I knew what a tough bar was from growing up in P,burg NJ. The bartender from a bar a frequented was an ex-marine I knew my whole life and he regularly excercised his hand-hand combat training in his duties. A sport was tying two guys left arms together and having them hit each other with their rights until one guy collapsed. I also have relatives scattered across Greene and Albany counties and thought I knew upstate NYS. As a result I ignored warnings for a rough bar in Central NYS and went in anyway. When a fight broke out that quickly turned to swinging beer mugs into people's faces and laying down guys on the pool table and beating them senseless with pool cues I became rapidly aware that I was out of my element.

That was 35 years ago and every since I am very cautious when someone in a poor, rural area of New York warns me to stay out of a place.

Well now that we have started the "what region is toughest debate," I nominate Chester PA. Lots of losers with nothing left to lose and feeling no pain. They may not tough individually but neither are zombies. Chester folk come in the same numbers as well.

on the topic, Those guides up in Altomar should never guide again and do at least a year or two hard time for beating ganging up like that. Assuming they're found guilty by a fair jury.

Maybe there was something in the beer 30 years ago or so. Bishop Hotel (bar) in the Village of Unadilla. Three dead after a card game goes awry.

I didn't want to start a toughest spot contest. I just cringe a little when I hear "I'm gonna go up and kick some ass" talk when referring to a tough place far away. Tough talk in a place where you aren't a local can end badly.

I'd love to hear Catskill talk like that in a Piney bar down my way.. no reason to start trash talk. Huh, little boys.

I have no idea what the toughest areas are, but I have worked in the absolute worst sections of jersey city, newark, irvington etc. The thug element is unbelievable unless you see it for yourself. I have been in public housing areas where you need a police escort, sparing any of you the various horror stories and details, the sickest thing you will ever see are 16 year old boys with tears tattoo'd on their cheeks below the top corners of their eyes, each tear represents someone they have killed, I have seen hundreds of these "tears", I don't think you'll find that in the Catskills or the Pines...........

Yah, the pines dont compare to places like that. We do get a number of dumped bodies here every year though and there's definately some neat honky tonk bars with tough crowds. The bar in my town has a shooting range out back. Some of our bars are like a walk back in time.. good home cooking, juke playing country, pool tables, animals on the walls, and even some cowboy boots. Reminds me of stops I've made in Texas, NM, and Arizona. Fun places to waste a night at. You cant just call everyone in Jersey a pussy like CMM did, but he's a college kid and will grow up someday.

I was in this bar one time and they didn't put a coaster under my martini. Really, no coaster!

Not really seeing how their attorney acted in a dumb manner. This is routine, and ultimately, the ADA will most likely offer a plea and they will accept as they would probably lose in a jury sitution. It's the same 'ol song and dance that happens everyday, everywhere in every local court. The DA's office, no matter what state or county, are not invested in prosecuting misdemeanor cases to the fullest, unless it's a sex offense case and they don't have enough for a felony. Remember this if you ever get charged at this level.....if you did it, wait for the plea offer, it'll come (Not that any fly fisher would ever act in such a manner)
:smiley-sniffer:

I read the article. I dont know who is dumber, them or thier attorney

A slap on the wrist the DA should be ashamed of himself as well as the two goons. holding someones head under water is not a misdemeanor
No justice here !!

Anyone know how the victim is making out. I recall he was in bad shape after this happened.

What if all out-of-town fishermen boycott the Salmon River (not safe). See how the economy of Altmar fares.

Him and his brothers are losing their guides license's for sure. They were never guides in my eyes to begin with. Karma can be a biotch and I hope it steps right on their cranks. POS should get felonies if you ask me. Too bad NY doesn't have the make my day law like Florida. Then if that old man was packing, he could have smoked those losers right then and there and let their bodies float down the river.
