CTobias

Professional BS'r
WTF?!?!?! I can't believe no one has brought up the attack that occurred this past week on the Salmon River!!! It was done by a guide and his cronies who some of you recommended to people for some un godly reason.

Here is the story. If you have questions comments or concerns, just post them.

Oswego County fisherman hurt in Salmon River fight |

Too bad they suck at reporting and got little to no of the real information. Here is the whole story.

Eyewitness Account

I was fishing 200 yards downstream from the older gentleman who got attacked, but did not know at the time it was my friend Bill. I started to hear yelling , when I seen a guy punch another guy , honestly seen this before so did not think much of it. The yelling and punching continued and I seen 2 more guys jump in throwing punches. Then I was concerned for the guy and started yelling to them that was enough maybe 8 more fisherman were saying the same thing. But it did not stop and they started to hold him under water while 2 other people were kicking and punching him. I then realised this man's life was in serious danger, so I then started to walk up to assist the man, yelling across the river walking up to where they were, I realized that I knew it was Bill getting the beating. Then I realized who was doing the kicking and punching it was Pat Mahoney, Bob Mahoney Jr. and 3 other guys who I'm not positive who they are. One of the men with a thinner build and no shirt had a tattoo's on his chest. Once I got to a spot where I could cross the "tough guys" went running through the woods. These men are cowards. This display was pathetic to say the least. Bill is 63 and was begging them to stop , what kind of a man could do such a thing. I'm counting on justice to prevail and these "tough guys" get punished to the fullest extent of the law. I also believe there guide license's should be taken away forever . Bill is a tough man and I wish him a speedy recovery so he can get back to what he loves fishing.

Second Account

I was there Thursday when it happened, one of my friends who was fishing close to where this attempted murder / Felony gang assault occurred told me that it was the worse beating he had ever seen a person get. And this guy used to be a bouncer at a tough bar in my town, let alone that it happened to a 63 year old man. If other fishermen hadn't come from well down stream to his rescue the Mahoney brothers might have killed him. When my buddy ran upstream to help the old man, the 3 Mahoneys had this old man's head held under water and were kicking him in the head repeatedly. The old man is so lucky the River had other fishermen around that day or the outcome could have been worse. Statements were taken from many many witnesses for hours by the state police after this happened, you'll be hereing more about it soon, probably on the news.

From Bill's Friend

Bill was beatin very badly & his injuries will take sometime to heal. He's experiencing severe headaches, blurriness, sore ribs, sore back, broken nose & bruises from his head to his knees. They even kicked him in the b--ls. They'll be in the news & newspaper before long. Lets see if they can run from the State Police. They'll be selling each other down the drain when they hear what the charges are. This was not a fight ( it was an assault on one man by a group of thugs ) Bill Murry the 62 year old victum was beatin , kicked , choked & held underwater to the point he thought he was going to die. So lets get this clear , it was not a fight , it was a brutal attack & these thugs should of been arrested by now. It seems to me that the D.E.C. or State Police do not have there facts straight, Bill was released from Upstate Medical University & re-admitted to the V.A. hospital. As of today , 4 days have passed & still no arrests have been made. The thugs were not fishing, only Bill Murray was. They were hiding in the woods waiting for there pre-meditated attack. I keep hearing about an alleged tire slashing. Well you don't have to be a brain surgeon to figure this out. First of all I know Bill Murray for years , he's an honest, caring, loving husband, father & grandfather. He's a War veteran who loves his country & his fellow man, loves to fish & enjoys the outdoors & life more than anyone I know. Most of all he does'nt have any time for the Mahoney brothers & the rest of the thugs before or now, he just wants to be left alone. They threatened his life & threatened to burn down his house if he told the police who they were, well they know who they are & we're waiting for the police to do there job. Why are the Police so apprehensive, ( in the case of a fishing violation the fisherman is taken directly to the JUDGE ) Tell me what's wrong with this picture. Please contact your Senator , Congressman or any local representative of Government that may help Bill receive JUSTICE.

That's disgusting. They should just be shot and left to float downriver and decompose if you ask me. Friggin' scumbags.

Very disturbing to hear this :holy:. I was just up there on sunday and monday and did not hear a word about it. I have talked to Pat on the river several times and he always seemed really layed back and helpfull to me but what ever the victim did or said to these guys it did not warrant this type of beating and could have been handled in a different way . I hope justice is served and there were no serious injuries. On a side note had 2 of my best days up there in a couple of years.

Last I knew the gentleman as still in the VA hospital. Yes he was released from the other hospital, but was taken straight to the VA hospital. He was accused of slashing Mahoney's tires. They aren't even sure he is the one that did it. This is disgusting.

What a bunch of pussies to gang up on a 63 year old guy, too bad the victim wasn't carrying, I don't think we'd be referring to him as the victim any longer, if he was.

mahoney brothers..fuckin probably suck cock at nite..i would have begged to have that happen to me...pieces of shit....

Worst part about all of this is they're not even in jail yet because the investigation is still pending. For some reason it was turned over to the DEC instead of the Staties or County Sheriff. I am hearing it's because of a jurisdiction thing. Granted the DEC has just as much, if not more authority than a State Trooper, I had just never heard of the DEC doing an investigation on such a brutal attack. But, as long as justice is served then I don't care who does the investigation.

Why are people so scared of bears? This is very sad. Hope he recovers and helps track those pissants down.

So you were saying he was just standing there fishing and did nothing? And they randomly picked him out and did this?

Sounds like there is a little more to it. Anyway, no matter what he did or said to them its no excuse. He should press charges and then sue them all into the next century.

This is pretty sick Chris as low as it gets . If you suspect someone slashed your tires then call the police. You don't go with the posse and beat up anyone let alone a 63 year old guy because you think he did it .Sounds to me like these guy's need jail time and some physiological help incredible and disgusting. And this guy should take them to court and clean them out they have a lot of property in the Altmar area.

Wow, this story makes me not want to go back to the salmon. If i wanted to get jumped by thugs and experience random, unwarranted violence i'd fish in newark. I've heard of fights going on there before, but nothing of this severity. To gang attack an elderly man, simply on suspicion of him slashing your tires, without any evidence or effort to talk it over is pretty sick. Holding his head underwater? at that point it's not even a fight, it's attempted homicide. To most stable minded human beings the only thing that warrants an attack on another man's life is an attack on yours. This is a sickening story and if the accounts are true this could be a big story, possible national news.

Not random at all, in the news story it mentions they all knew each other at least somewhat and that these thugs accused him of slashing one of their tires. By know each other it could just mean they happened to recognize each other just from fishing the same stretches of river over time. Sounds to me like maybe these hotheads were pissed that their tires were slashed and accused the only other angler parked there of doing it without really knowing for sure. Or maybe it's part of an ongoing feud and he actually did it, somehow I have hard time beleiving that a 63yr old man would a) actually do that or b) be dumb enough to do it to a younger group of guys that could kick his ass while he's alone.

So you were saying he was just standing there fishing and did nothing? And they randomly picked him out and did this?

.

No they didn't randomly pick him. They thought it was the guy who slashed Pat's tires, but right now they aren't so sure. From what I was told from a gentleman who talked to Pat, they just wanted to scare him and they took it too far. He knows he f'd up and he is just waiting for what the law has in store for him and his cronies.

These guys (mahoney's) must share a brain. I guess the one that was supposed to have it left it home that day. Nobody that I know would slash tires then stick around and fish. Most of the thugs that do that slash and run not slash and fish.

:bump:
CT any update on this, these's scum bags should be in jail!!
If not maybe a visit up to the salmon river to visit the mahoney's is in order.
No one treats a veteran like that if I'm around!!
Keep us posted please.
Thanks

Just to get this straight,
The names are Pat Mahoney, Bob Mahoney and three other misfits that will be named shortly in the police report. we should all keep these names imbeded so we never do any business with these individuals.

i understand that one of family members already has his guides license revoked. Do they have a father that was a guide? I think he is the one.

I can't believe they are only getting assault in the 3rd degree!! Hopefully they loose their guidelicense for life.

I read today that they finally charged Pat Mahoney and his brother with the brutal attack on Salmon river. Only a misdemeanor??? SMALL TOWN INJUSTICE STRIKES AGAIN!!

Hey DA / DEC where is the felony attempted murder??? You have multiple witness testimonies as to intent and a mountain of evidence. SOMETHING IS FISHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Either get these guys off the river permanently, or send them up it!

It will be interesting to see if the victim institutes a civil law suit for a substantial monetary claim after the criminal case. The evidence from the criminal case and obvious guilty plea or verdict, will make a guilty civil verdict a foregone conclusion with the only area of question being the actual amount of financial damage that will be awarded to the victim.

Sorry for being a slacker. Been chasing catfish down here until I can get to the Smokies. Maybe this weekend!! Ok back to the topic at hand.

Witnesses talk about Salmon River attack; defendants say victim was aggressorBy Debra J. Groom / The Post-StandardMay 07, 2010, 7:32AMAlbion, NY -- Witnesses to the attack of an Ithaca man on the Salmon River in Albion say two men kicked and punched William Murray repeatedly and held his head below water, according to statements given to police.Murray, 62, was attacked while he was fishing the river about 4 p.m. April 8.Police with the State Department of Environmental Conservation arrested Patrick A Mahoney, 42, of state Route 13, Altmar, and Robert R. Mahoney III, 45, of county Route 15, Boylston. They each are charged with misdemeanor counts of assault and petit larceny and an environmental conservation charge of fighting in a fishing access area. They will be arraigned in Albion town court June 7.» Read the statement by William Murray to police.Watertown lawyer David Antonucci, who represents the Mahoneys, said Murray was the aggressor in the altercation and his clients were defending themselves."He came toward my clients," he said. "We intend to absolutely stand by our position that this was self defense."Murray suffered a concussion and spent two days in a Syracuse hospital. The Mahoneys, who work as river guides, could lose their state-issued guide licenses if they are found guilty of violating the state Environmental Conservation law or state Code of Rules and Regulations.Five of six witness statements included in the court documents state either three or four men were involved in the attack. These witnesses are from various locations and one stated he is a friend of Murray. In his statement to state troopers, who also assisted in the investigation, John P. Biagini, of Utica, said he saw a man he identified as Pat Mahoney running towards Murray."The guy hit him hard and tackled him. The guy then bent down, grabbed him by the hair and started hitting him over and over in the head. He was also holding Murray’s head under water from time to time. I heard Murray screaming," Biagini told the troopers. He said he also saw a man he knows as Bob Mahoney join in the attack along with a third man. He said Bob Mahoney kicked Murray in the head with his boots with spikes on them. The third man hit Murray in the face, he said."I watched Murray get put under water at least five or six times," he told the troopers. "It was an awful fight. I couldn’t believe all three of them were fighting him, he couldn’t get away because his waders were full of water and they were right on top of him."Biagini and witness David A. Deep of Lacona said a number of men fishing in the area yelled at the attackers to stop. One of the men told Deep to "mind your own business."Biagini said when he told the men to stop, "they started to threaten me."Deep also said he recognized two of the men as Bob and Pat Mahoney.Francis J. Polick of Ellenvlle, told DEC police he saw Murray "kneed in the face" by one of the men. "I called 911 and reported what I was seeing in fear that they were trying to kill this guy," he told the police.Witnesses Bruce A. Rogers, of Ithaca, and Robert Bisignani of Moscow, Pa., said neither saw Murray "throw a punch." Rogers also said he heard the men accuse Murray of "slashing their tires. They said this is the end of it. It wasn’t going to happen again," he told state police.Rogers said he believes the fight lasted about five minutes.Antonucci said the April 8 incident was one in "a pattern of harassment from the victim fro a number of years." He said the Mahoneys tried to deal with the harassment by contacting the authorities, but to no avail."When he (Murray) charged at my client, he had to defend himself," Antonucci said.Last week, Murray was seen by other doctors in Ithaca and diagnosed with cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrea — that is, fluid surrounding the brain leaks into the nose. Murray’s wife, Jeannette, said doctors told them the condition can be caused by trauma. The two misdemeanor charges against the Mahoneys can result in fines of up to $1,000 and jail time of up to one year. The Environmental Conservation Law violation carry a fine up to $250 and imprisonment for up to 15 days

and may I add no soap on the rope for them.!!!
