WHY Bears?

Trout Hunter
I know this isn't the place to ask, but I keep getting banned from the appropriate Facebook pages....

There was a recent "problem bear" incident in Oakland....
No one was hurt but several different hikers were reporting being followed by an bear in Ramapo State Forrest, in one case aggressively. A child got some scratches from brush, trying to escape.

The DFW set a trap, caught, and destroyed a bear. NJDEP - News Release 15/P086 - Ramapo Mountain State Forest Remains Closed Following Reports of Black Bear Encounters
Turned out that this particular bear had been so unafraid of people, and spent so much time around local homes, that she had a name.

I'm amazed at the response, and at how many of my otherwise sensible neighbors, turned out to be BEAR people.

There's going to be a memorial service.
The head of the Ramapough Conservatory is trying to plan some sort of "education" rally, and is trying to get Susan Kehoe and the Mayor together.

Why are the animal rights people focusing on Bears, an apex predator?

Deer and rabbits are cuter. They certainly taste better than coyotes, (and don't look like your dog). They can be dangerous, and are constantly disrupting school openings and dismissals.

What is it about bears that gets these people so much more upset than (for instance) deer
season?

They're idiots, not much more to it than that. We have bears here in Millburn every year and you always get the idiots who try to protect them even though they are running through the backyards of suburbia.

I know, but why not something cuter. Deer season comes and goes every year, without demonstrations. Bambi & Thumper won't eat your children.

Why do they focus on bears?

its because they are guided by emotion, not intelligent thinking, and their emotions are based on unreality. Secondly, people want to be part of the majority not minority, so which ever way the wind blows, if backed by what they feel is the majority, they go with.

I have a problem with the friends of Clara creating the bear problem. If they want to blame someone for the resulting demise of that bear, they have no farther to look than themselves. I'm sure the non-bearlike behavior was caused by the "bear lovers" in that area. Bears should run at the sight, sound or smell of a human. Instead this bear would come closer when it saw a human, probably because it was being given handouts like it was somebodies pet.
Bear sees humans in the woods, so what does it do? It comes closer because it thinks it will eventually get some free food. It was only a matter of time before the human/bear interaction resulted in some sort of injury to the human and the result would be the same as it is today. One dead bear and a bunch of anthropomorphic idiots running around have prayer meetings for a dead bear.
So I say good riddance.

So now let's talk about the real reasons you are being banned from Facebook.........

I tend to agree, most likely some of the locals condemned the bear themselves.
BUT
They probably also feed the deer & squirrels.
Yet, I hear nothing during deer or small game season.

Why Bears?
Don't we have any liberals here with friends like that?

OT: I was banned because of age discrimination......
I was raised in an era when there was a military draft, and it was a kid's patriotic duty to learn how to shoot. While I was serving, the hippies managed to make cowardice socially acceptable, and then Nixon made it legal when he stopped the draft.

Why Bears?

Because bears have more human traits than deer or squirrels. Hence the "bear people", appropriate don't you think, associate more with bears. If you think back before the bear boom, deer were tops for the love and affection of these folks.

I heard it was because you were posting nude selfies.

deer eat expensive shrubbery and are considered a pest by many. they also carry ticks and are way overpopulated in many areas. that's why it's ok to kill the big rats.

Why do they focus on bears?

Because they used to focus on deer (remember the Great Swamp deer hunt debates, protests, etc. in the 70s?) and some still do, but they lost that battle which is ostensibly about ultimately banning all hunting, trapping and fishing and now they have turned their focus on bears. Or at least they have for the last about 12 years since the issue first popped up during the McGreevy administration. They assign human emotions to bears, give them names, and call them (no lie) "dolphins of the forest". Well, it turns out that the forest dolphins have acquired a taste for humans (re: Darsh Patel's killing and partially being eaten by a black bear in West Milford the other year). Category 1 complaints are back up and the lateness of our current 6 Day gun season means most bears are denned up and not available to hunters to kill to reduce the overall population nearly enough.

What happened, Pete, is that the Division has added a fall 6 day archery season beginning in '16 in which the last 3 days are also open to muzzleloaders. That will be on top of the existing December 6 Day season in an effort to reduce their numbers further. That is why the beartards are getting their panties in a bunch right now. These people are not well and their logic is severely flawed. But that never stops some people from pushing their personal agendas.

It's because they are all cidiots and have never been around bears in the wild. Limp wristed liberal sissies.

But it wasn't always that way with deer in NJ.

One might think that since a bear killed and partially ate a human here in NJ in 2014, many opinions on whether or not bears can be dangerous to humans have changed. Apparently, the antis still have not come to that conclusion....

But, THAT wasn't THE BEARS fault..

No not seriously, I was mocking the "anointed" and their visions....:)

SLUT INDEED!!!!

I knew you were being sarcastic - as was I... whoever suggested that we introduce a sarcasm font was on to something... anyway... should you be at the deep fryer??

Yes bobbing for apple pies.......No I am trying to hire some fool for a job...people complain about being unemployed....BOO FUCKIN HOO, there are no jobs...MY ASSHOLE!!!!!! there are jobs but stinky lazy white people think they are above them...do I sound angry and bitter? WELL YES I AM!!!!!!!

Bears look like dogs, and are therefore cute. I blame all the crazy dog people (apologies in advance to the dog owners here), who drive with Fifi on their lap, put clothes on their dogs, get pissed when you don't let them in restaurants, and generally treat them like people. These are the people who protest.

Glad that bear is gone, now I can park at the top of Skyline to ride my MTB again, instead of parking down the road and sneaking in. And if they think there are a lot of bears there, you should see the amount a few miles away at the Jungle Habitat.

Ramapo Mountain is still closed!!!! I think that they are being a little too over-cautious at this point. What a waste of resources.

TN....
Coyotes look even more like dogs, but coyote season doesn't seem to bring out droves of animal rights jihadists.

The Mayor's "reverse 911" call, that woke everyone up, was an overreaction.
Since there was more than one incident, the DFW can't be sure that there was only one aggressive bear. Keeping the park closed, may be an attempt to keep the activists from sabotaging the traps.

Yesterday, the Division euthanized two more bears in the State Park (Forest?), hence the reason it remains closed. That's basically three in that one week in one state forest.

Bear lovers, bear haters - they're all the same. A general indifference to bears is the only rational mindset.
