White Haven in Late July

thebwproject

Needs a lot of help.
Hey guys,
I will be spending a week up at [FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif]White Haven in late July and would like to get into some trout. This will also be my first time in the area. Can anyone recommend some spots that I could step into? I am looking into doing a guide for a whole day and the local fly shop I can purchase some local tied flys at. Again, a recommendation would be great.

Thanks a lot!

Not sure how the Lehigh fishes in July but there is plenty of river to fish there. Visit the Evening Hatch right on Rt 940. They have links to the stockings, hatch charts and water levels and a list of approved waters on their website. They have always been very helpful to us when we visit. They are also a well stocked fly shop. Best of luck to you!

Even the limestoners get low and warm in late July and August. Going to have to watch the summer weather and temps. I used to fish that area back when I lived in PA and sometimes what was roaring in Spring could be a trickle come mid-summer. Nice location and I hope its fishable for you. Id take the above advice and hit up the Evening Hatch for good info.

The temps in the Lehigh are very iffy at that time...
Check the USGS gage at FEW Dam...the water will cool down a bit as it goes through the gorge
The LRSA has another gage down by palmerton that gives you an idea for the temps mid-way through the trout water
There are other trout streams in the area as well...the pohopoco stays cold and gets sulphurs all summer. The LV streams will have tricos
Many people also fish the Lehigh for ssmallies
Joe Demalderis is recommended for the Lehigh, from what I hear...I believe he's a board member here as well
