Touching yourself isn't getting your hands dirty. Any person with half a brain and a sense of pride in the beliefs America was founded on wouldn't be a liberal hippie. The left screamed so loud about all the freedoms Bush was taking from us and how he was evil. God forbid anyone ever talk bad about the left. Oh crap I said God, maybe I should choose a different word to use since they want to take God out of the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. Progressives are ruining this country and they have been for a long time. I just wish that more people actually gave a crap about this country and the direction it is headed in, instead of how much the government is going to provide for them. It didn't take me to the age of 40 to realize any of this, and if some of our younger generation doesn't wake the FUCK up, then they'll be wondering where a lot of their freedoms went and why they can't walk down the street with out their being a government regulation on how to do it in a safe manner.

Why shouldn't they take "one nation under God" out of the Pledge. I'm a hard working tax paying, law abiding, American who doesn't believe in god. They should remove the "In God We Trust" from every coin I earn too. I trust no god (but understand that this is my problem and I will be going to hell for not repenting). I'm just saying, why should yours or anyones beliefs be forced upon me? Why not put, "In Muhammed we Trust" or "In the Name of Allah".. How would that make you feel? I can tell just by your response above that "Allah" on a coin would piss you off. I don't care for "God" on a quarter but I don't dwell on it, it's just not important enough for me to waste my time thinking about.

Anyhow, just curious for anyone interested... Let's see where you stand. The red dot is where I am.

There are many of us out there that realized this at a young age. Me earlier than most since my parents are from a former communist country. They've heard most of the current rhetoric already almost verbatim, interestingly enough, at another time in another place.

Also, there is some truth to the Churchill quote, as in general, many don't earn good cake until later, like 35-40. Then when you realize where the coin you're busting your ass for is going, and to who, you become conservative pretty quickly.

actually the pledge wasnt conceived until 1892 by Francis Bellamy. It was modified 4 times with the latest being the addition of "under god" in 1954. In addition the gesture of standing with your hand held over your heart was changed during world war 2 when the previous gesture was said to resemble the Nazi salute.

You would also be well served to keep an open mind. Our country is only 224 years old. Measured against some of the other notable empires throughout history we should take a good deal of pride in what has been accomplished and how we have evolved as a society. If you know of a country that has gotten it right from the beginning you should let us all know where it is located

As for progressive radical ideas being the catalyst for more rights in this country it could be argued that some of the most important rights were obtained without any progressive involvement.

From your post you seem to imply no love for the constitution. I hope that is not the case

I mean I can understand if you read it and you get all worked up about what is being said...that is normal but if you see one post and know what the thread is about why not just leave it alone. I didnt say "How come you hate america" You can certainly not agree with everything in the constitution but let me just say one last thing on this. Its not subject to interpretation by the courts. The constitution by law can only be altered through amendments. The very fact that you are able to see that courts alter it through judicial rulings should be more Worrying than anything else said on this board.

Well I agree there should not be any personal bashing of the president or the office. If you cant win the argument based on the battle of ideas and vision for the country than I guess that means your argument is not very well thought out.
