I can envision the crowds stacked on the upper west branch in april already. That river is going to take on all the pressure early season

That ice isnt going away in a couple of weeks. The lower river may have ice remaining until mid to late april. And will be very cold until early may. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out. In colder years- I have seen the fish just get used to the cold temps and rise in water temps of 45 or so as if it was low 50s. At some point the fish just cant ignore the food anymore and start eating on the surface regardless of temps. Same goes for high flows. Ive seen fish get used to 3500 on the west and they rise as if the river is at normal flows after it holds steady for a few days.

The long-term forecast looks colder than normal in the Northeast through at least early April, as in I (and Lightenup) may still have powder days up in VT during Easter, so things will indeed be interesting. I'm dying to start mountainbiking, but will settle for more ski days. Look on the bright side, rising fish to Iso's on the big river in July while wet wading. How great is that?

The prediction is no hatches this year. Everyone should just stay home.

-----------

There's still ice on the West Branch and Main Stem pilgrim.

Still ice...

An astute move to push back the One Bug a week to the beginning of May this year however.

Tight lines.

I predict that it will stay cool until Mid April, then it will turn hot with no gradual increase in temp.
