TU; On The Rise DVD's Season 1 & 2

Boston - Title Town USA
Trout Unlimited TV show is on the Sportsman Channel, if you are like me I don't get that channel.

So I do the next best thing, I order the season DVD.

Friday I received my season one and two of
TU's; On The Rise with Frank Smethurst.

Each segment highlights the work being done by TU
on each of the featured streams, but Frank is a marked
different personality, which actuallly makes the show
even more enjoyable to watch.

Season one has 15 episodes covering rivers in Montana,
Oregon, Idaho, Colorado out west, Georgia and Tennesse
here in the east.

The last episode is steelhead fishing in Ohio.

I have just got through viewing the first season, when I get
time this week I will watch season two with GREAT INTEREST.

I believe there might be one episode featuring a member
of this board fishing his favourite river here in NJ ???

I like the Streamline travel trailer ...

Each DVD is only a $25.00 contribution, well worth it.

Sorry if I wind up ruining season II for you:)

It was my first time filming a TV show and it is very odd what hits the cutting room floor and what gets into the show. Of course it being TV, the host always has to look great and catch all the fish. Many, many hours filming go into a show that only runs about 22 minutes/week. I don't get the new channel this show is now on and TU is changing hosts this new season, but I'm glad we have a show at all as they can be expensive to put on.

For those who watch the Musky episode, no, I don't typically fish woolly buggers on 6X....long story and the filming was to have been done and wrapped when I tossed that fly out there and a nice brown grabbed it. After Frank fished hard for 2 days with Rick Axt and Agust Gudmundsson with little to show for their efforts in the extreme heat two summers ago, I arrived from a staff retreat at Yellowstone after a series of T-storms dumped some much needed rain and cooled everything down the night before day 3 of filming. Frank and I banged 'em from the first cast that morning and wrapped what was to be a full day of filming in less than 2 hours. Better to be lucky than good.

FYI AK that is an Airstream not a Streamline trailer, i never owned a trailer but if i did it would definitely be an airstream. It would be nice to have a 1973 9 passenger Pontiac Safari Wagon with wood grain siding to haul it with, maybe someday me and you can see America in a set up like that. Me, You a couple of suitcases, an ice chest, some fly rods and an atlas.

If that is correct, my mistake.

However, I do have a "Flat Stanley" travel trailer..

As far as choice of ride goes... I like comfort.

So I will keep what I already have.

This is what you need, Skim.

Since I first saw that.. travel trailer on the DVD, I am seriously thinking of getting
some magic markers and making my own trout design on the side of mine.

Just wish I could draw.

Rusty Spinner, the Musky was the second episode of season two, and I have to honestly say you did an OUTSTANDING JOB on the show explaining the Musky and your work there.

Very well spoken. NO SHIT.

I have seen just about all the other TU shows from years back (I taped them) and I do have to say you did the best job on any of the shows I have ever seen.

BRAVO ZULU

PS:

If they ever look for another host of the show, you should seriously put your name in the hat.

Not too many people here on NEFF ever received a BRAVO ZULU from me.

have you considered gracing me or a few of my fine posts with such accolades and encomiums?

LOL... never entered my mind.

You are like someone else's little brother..

Sorta just tags along with the flow.

Like nitrogen, inert.

OK so I saw you now, and there is your little pat on the head for today, now run off little fella.

Tt is a fine addition to the site when he's not busy defending trice mike.

Tt, you must understand, that while it us chivalrous to defend the honor of women, that trico mike is not actually a woman!

Please, treat him the same way that you treat everyone else.

IMO, TU On the Rise is one of the better Fishing shows on TV..Frank Smethurst is the perfect host...(Tim Linehan also did a good job in the former TUTV, but Frank's personality seems to add more excitement to the show).....Unfortunately, Frank stepped down as host of On the Rise after last season...I have not heard who will be the new host...Hopefully they keep the show on the air and it remains as entertaining as the last few seasons with Frank...

The show remains, but I forget the name of the new host. Think he's a MT guide if memory serves me. Also, they moved the show to the Outdoor Network for next season.
