Dave, just as you are after your elusive Brown Trout, I'm after my first smallmouth! (I'm also after my first Brook and Brown Trouts as well, but you get the point!)

Nice fish.

Guys,

If you have the time, why not take a ride over to the Beaverkill. You'll run into plenty of good dry fly action during the mid afternoon and the chances of seeing brown trout rising are probably 95%. Chances of you catching one is up to you. :)

Hi Dennis

The "Beamoc" is DEFINITELY on my list of fly fishing destinations I would like to go to!! :)However, I live and work in philadelphia and only drive up to North NJ on the weekends to stay at my parents' house in New Milford (I grew up in Bergen County). I have quite a few "destinations" where I would like to spend a nice weekend fly fishing and (always) learning. I have found quite a few places that have package deals with professional instructions and sometimes a half day of guided trips which would be fun I think. The Battenkill Lodge is my top destination!

This year, if I can take a long weekend in August, I hope to stay at the Allenberry Resort in PA for the White Fly Hatch :)

Cheers for FRiday!

big d for smallies and sbr for brookies and browns. I am hunting brown trout all day tomorrow...been tying flies for the last week for sat and sun. good luck!

Upyun: If you are lucky enough to time it just right on the Yellow Breeches Creek, you will find yourself in a fly fisherman's paradise. You my want to consider bringing a 2 or 3 weight (#22 midges) for some fishing at the "run" coming out of Boiling Spring Lake.

Twenty minutes away is the Latort Spring Creek. Have to fish in those hallowed waters.

The Allenberry Resort has specified on their website that August 18-20 would be a great weekend to come for their famous White Fly Hatch. And if Joe Humphreys is there to teach, I'm gonna be speechless! Thanks for the advice on the rod selections for the trip.

Ah, yes the Letort. I'll certainly have to check it out as well! Thanks! I also plan to try out www.KeystoneAnglers.com</TITLE>

and use their services for a weekend for some good Central PA fishing. Rocco seems like a nice guy. IMO, staying at their Spicewood Cottage and going on one of their native trout stream trips would be a weekend well spent :)

Upyun: You have hit a nerve with me. You and I seem to enjoy the same areas and trout streams. If Mr. Humphreys is not there, you can always reach him through Fly Fisher's fly shop in State College, PA. (814.234.4189) for private/group lessons.

Of the list of North Central Pennsylvania streams; Fishing Creek - Penns Creek - Spring Creek - Pine Creek - Young Woman's Creek - Kettle Creek - Slate Run - Cedar Run, there is one that is my all time favourite stream in the US. Can you guess?

Sometime this summer I will be taking a weeks holiday and traveling to all the streams listed above myself. Might just bump into each other some morning.

There are literally too many places to list where I want to spend a weekend of fly fishing and scenery around our area (i.e. Beaverkill Valley Inn, The Battenkill Lodge, Eldred Preserve, Indian Springs, The Hungry Trout, The Glendorn, Pocono Manor, The Feathered Hook Inn). There are a few others as well, but if you want my whole list, PM me :p

I don't know what happend to my previous post, but Rocco (the owner, founder, guide at Keystone Anglers) seems like a nice guy and their website is quite informative. In my opinion, spending a weekend at their Spicewood Cottage in Kettle Creek Valley and going on one of their native trout stream trips sounds like a great time to me! I haven't heard much about Young Woman's Creek, but if it's your favorite stream in the U.S. there must be a pretty good reason why :p I'll take your word for it ;) That's on my list now as well.

Sorry for ruining your thread Dave. But its all in the name of fishing!
