Last week it was 90 degrees outside. This week it's 32! I've been watching a lot of fly fishing videos on FB as well as Youtube and it really put me in the mood to fish. I just ordered a new boat cover for the Clacka, found a new spool for my Charlton reel, and also realized that I purchased a Sage R8 core 2 years ago, put it in the basement, and forgot I had it! I might sell it, I don't even know why I bought it but has anyone fished the 9 5 weight Sage R8? How do you like it?
The night prior to waking up at 6am or so for my trek on Rt. 17 to you know where, I'll start to get my crap together and maybe put some backing and line on the Charlton before I leave. Normally this is a "I'll do it when I get on the boat" kinda thing. I won't bother checking my fly boxes for the right flies, they are still in the little plastic containers from the past few years. Who needs fly boxes!?!?! Nevertheless, I'll purchase more flies just in case. I'm a last minute guy.
When I line up the rod, I'll use the same tippet that was on my reel that last time I fished. I'm too lazy to change that.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll forget something like an anchor or a net. This reminds me... I found myself in Bard Parker one morning and the fish were rising like crazy. I hooked into a nice rainbow trout then went to net it and ooops. Left the net in the car. Back then, Gene and Ines were running shuttles. Gene would always text me to let me know that the car was safely delivered to the take-out area. I called to ask him if he was going back that way and luckily, he was. I picked up my net and met me at Stockport. Gene and Ines are great. Unfortunately, they aren't running shuttles any longer. Who is everyone using?
That's about it for today. See everyone next month!
