The One that Rules the South Branch!!!

to each their own right? sometimes i like to bang my girlfriend doggy style and sometimes i like to bang my dog girlfriend style. which do you prefer?[/QUOTE]

That is great.....Replaces Macflys Dildo reference as funniest thing i have seen or heard!!!

I do agree that Aaron does have an ego -- But most people that become semi-famous before they get to the age of between 45-50 all get an ego. If you read my post throughly you will also see that I did not say Aaron invented Euro -Nymphing. What I did say was that he brought it to the US and and improved on it to fit the "AMERICAN" way of fly fishing. He is basically the guy who brought this style of fishing to the US and has made a "REAL" name for himself. GOD BLESS HIM. He capitalized on something no one else did in the US. Can he be considered a Pioneer in this sport?? Can he be mentioned with the likes of FLick Wulf Schwiebert and the likes?? Who knows -- I will say this, It is VERY POSSIBLE!!! He has brought a whole new way to nymph fish to our country. So in a way he is on the cutting edge of it. He has perfected it to a point where he could write a book and make Films on how to do it. Would I do it? NO not my stye -- I like rods no longer than 9ft 8ft being my prefered lenghth, and I also like a rod I can Nymph Wet and dry fly fish without having to swap rods. I couldn't imagine trying to Back cast a dry fly with an 11ft rod and not getting it in the trees.

Aaron is still young as are most of the people on this site. Lets let HISTORY and the future decide if Aaron can be mentioned with the other greats. IMOVHO depending on what comes from his Euro-Nymphing Style Books and Films. If it becomes a VERY POPULAR way to fish with the younger generation of Fly Fishermen (OLDER GUYS WILL SHY AWAY FROM IT Like myself) -- If it proves to be the way and changes most peoples beliefs on nymphing and how to do it, than yes Aaron will be mentioned in those names

Peace
Dan

I think that guys like George Daniel, Loren Williams, and Lance Egan may have something to say about this bit. He's "famous" here in the Northeast, mainly because of this forum and his. He's easily made some of the better videos on the subject. I'm pretty neutral on the subject of Aaron. He knows shit, but then gets irritating with the "I only smoked 50 fish today" bs. I could really care less about the who's who in the world of fly fishing. Just calling it the way I see it. Aaron is a good fisherman who's been fortunate to be able to make something of a living out of his passion. Thats it.

In all actuality Aaron is a teacher --2nd grade i believe somewhere in North NJ -- He is suplementing his income with his writing and Videos -- If your making a living on Fly Fishing in this state you'd be broke in 4 mos -- No way your ever going to be able to live on being a professional Fly Fisherman in NJ - NY or even PA -- You have to either 1 be rich and dont care about money 2 have a wife who has a great paying Job or 3 Retired and dont rely on Fly Fishing to pay the bills

Peace

if i ate my own shit i wonder if it would taste like chicken?

Now this is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LMFAO -- Tell u what pit -- I'd give you 100.00 bucks to do that and let us all know if it actually does taste like chicken LMFOA

I'm hardly neutral on this subject, I'm working with the guys at TPO. I'll say this. Dan is correct, Aaron is a teacher in Patterson New Jersey. Whether Aaron has an ego or not, depends how much time you actually spend with him. The fact is, he is a great fisherman and a great teacher. What he has accomplished has been through nothing but hard work, there was no easy road. I commend him for that, and I'm glad to be working on future projects with them.

Next up- Fly Tying DVD series featuring the patterns created by Aaron Jasper.

The thing most people don't know about Aaron, is that he'd rather teach you to catch 50 fish, then him catching 10 fish. He's the type of guy to choose both though haha.

Making your living purely on flyfishing is tough anywhere, unless you own a successful shop. I do know a couple of guides out of state who are on the water with clients 100+ days a season, but they also have winter-time jobs.

And you forgot number 4 from your list above- Full time disability, but not disabled enough to move around a slippery, swiftly moving stream all day while flailing your arm back and forth casting. I know a couple of these dudes.

HE brought it to this country? Really? No one else?
Could I google euro nymphing and find a dozen guys or more across the country espousing and teaching the technique?

No Idea CAN YOU??? I can Google How to eat shit too and come up with 1000 ways to do it -- Why are you always so combative with everyone and everything on this site -- What do you think -- Your the only one who knows anything -- or are you the only one who knows Everything -- Aaron wrote the book Aaron made the videos -- Dont know if anyone else did and I really dont care if they did -- All I know is Aaron made a name for himself and Jackasses like you are JEALOUS of it -- Bummer Huh

I don't know Aaron or have any opinion on euro nymphing(other than is there a Euro-dryflying?)

But you said HE brought it to this country!

Is that TRUE? And if you don't know it to be true, why are you posting that?

You make the outrageous claim that he could be in the company of the greats of flyfishing! Based on what? He's teaching someone else's technique to people who live on this side of the Atlantic?

Why would I be jealous? And what makes you think I am?

Actually I would say that ex USA team member and Vladi Trezbunia planted the seed here.

I just like to teach people what I learn. If you learn things and don't pass them on they are worthless. Even the late George Harvey regrets not teaching earlier and keeping things secret.

I would have to be insane to think that I made these techniques up. All I am doing is sharing and it's amazing what kind of crap you get for it...

FF -- You sir are JEALOUS -- The only thing I said is HE "COULD" be named with the greats -- If his Videos and his book/s change the way FLY FISHING IS DONE IN THE USA then yes he changed fly fishing in the USA -- DID I MENTION EUROPE no did I mention he invented it NO -- Most of the Flies that were tied back in the day came frome Europe England to be exact Now being that you only read what u want to read I SAID MOST and I SAID ENGLAND -- Those patterns were modified to the USA -- I said MODIFIED so you cant put words in my mouth. The ones who MODIFIED them were the ones who wrote the ORIGINAL BOOKS then others found other ways to tie those same flies and they wrote books until Art Flick and then Caucci and Nastasi and a few others went deeper into it. Bergman and Schwiebert got their credit and Still do. Art Flick AJ McClane Caucci and Nastasi and quite a few more took what Ray Bergman and Ernest Schwiebert Wrote about and took it to another level and It's still being done that way today.

So yes Aaron MAY --again I say "MAY" (WOuldn't want u you to say I SAID THIS since again you only read what you want to) at some point in history be named with them because he as far as I know was the 1st one to Write and make Videos explaining the Euro-Nymphing technique in THE USA. He has also put his own twist to it as every other one has done in the past.

Do I Euro -Nymph NO -- not even slightly interested in -- 10-12 ft rods Nope not for me -- But the Younger Generation of Fly fishers in this country may really do this and do it to the point that the older style US Method of nymphing may go by the wayside. I dont know if this will be the case, but Aaron has the book/s and the Video's on it. It seems to me that a lot of the people getting into fly fishing now are going that route because of Aaron's book/s and videos .

So yes he may eventually become one of the NAMED GREATS. Then again it may only be a fad and it goes away. Which is what I thought when I saw all this Euro-Nymphing crap. Guess what it's still going strong and eventually someone if not Aaron will improve on it again and so on and so on. If that be the Case --Aaron Jasper will have to be noted in the Book/s written since he is the 1st one in the USA to write about the technique.

Yeah FF why are you so dam combative:) I mean I just googled euro nymphing and I came up with a dozen guys and a few porn sites but aside from that why are yo so combative you jealous bastard:)

Thanks Aaron -- Its almost not worth the time and effort to share your knowledge. I guess thats why there are so many Good Fly Fishermen out there that DONT share their technique or ideas and pass them on to other fly fishermen. They end up getting shit on by people all the time.

psssssst.......

IT'S JUST FLY FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO CARES???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If some of you invested as much time bickering, complaining and bitching like little limp wristed faggots into something that actually mattered, then maybe, just maybe, this world could be a better place.

Ahh...who am I kidding. Most people are too concerned about their own little bubble to be worried with other things that are actually relevant and significant.

This is why I often fish alone, so I don't have to hear other people complaining about dumb shit.

You beat me to it, CTobias. I was going to say that if we spent this much time removing obsolete dams, restoring fish habitat and protecting our coldwater resources, we'd have more wild trout and salmon than we'd know what to do with!

isnt there a chef on this site sumwhere? maybe he could list sum herbs that would go with it..rosemary?

all this over the picture of a fish..mother fucker do i love NEFF!!!!!!!! if this site had balls i seriously mite lick them..macfly dont get any ideas.
my personal opinion on the euro style of nymphing is its a change..something different..now most will agree i think with me that change makes alot of people nervous..some people dont mind change at all..but lots of people dont like things to change..and thats fine..my menality on this style of fishing was nope, not me,im not doing that..i based that on ignorance,or that it was change..sumthin i wasnt about to try..i pounded my chest and said i know how to catch fish just fine,,and plenty of them..so i thought..i never saw a fish catching machine till the first time i fished with him..i dont get impressed easily, but this guy was like watchibg tiger woods in person..a friggin machine...he took me with him, showed me how to rig up,showed me the flies and the style in how to present them and i will say at times it should be illegal how friggin deadly it is..it opened my eyes to a whole new world of flyfishing that i am greatful for..i mite have been toying with these techniques by my own by now,,but maybe not..i always respect and appreciate him for that..he didnt know me from anyone..i was a stranger..weve butted heads a few times,,but i but heads with everyone once in a while..and i truly believe who ever says i dont care if i catch anything is full of shit..just an excuse for not very good skills..its enjoyable when your hooking up and sucks when your noy..if im out to just enjoy the weather i certainly wouldnt brings hundreds of dollars worth of gear with me,stand in the water with friggin rubber pants on and hopefully catch the glimpse of a bald eagle or a bald beaver..nope im there to catch fish..if i catch a dozen i wish it were 15,,if i get 20 i wish it were 25..nobody learns anything in this sport unless you catch fish..for anyone who has not or has never tried this style of fishing,,,all i can say is your missing out on sumthing really amazing..and you will learn alot more about trout themselves and there habits by being able to catch them..im done..came home to take a dump and didnt realize i was gonna write a book..cant we all just get along?? cock suckers

Simms,
why all the anger, Dude lighten the fuck up it's god damn fishing. If Aaron bothers you so much just pass on by. That is a great fish and from New Jersey to boot. Every "pro" has their butt brigade and their detractors. I even heard people say shit about Left who is one of the best guys in the business. No Aaron was no the first to introduce Euro style nymphing to the US. Vladi and Jack Dennis had a very good video out about 4 years ago and it has been put back out by Cabelas. Steve Parrot also has a video out that came out about the time Aaron's did. It takes a load of time an effort to put a vidoe together, so he get's my repsect for that. Simms if you really gave a shit about fishing with your old man and his friends why are all the photos of you, hero shot afte hero shot, nice trout perfectly posed with you G loomis and red ( is that a Galvin) reel. I think you need to step back and grow up, you need to put less into how many you got and more into soaking in the time with your dad and friends. Because before you know it you will be an old guy tellin stories about your 100 fish days to an old stuffed trout. One of the best fly fisherman I know have never counted more than 1 trout, why because that is really the only one that counts.

Steve

Well thank you Aaron for setting the record straight.

And as for being jealous, maybe you are right. Every time I walk past my bookcase and see Flick's "Master Fly Tying Guide" , Schweibert's "Nymphs" (useless in my view), Swisher and Richard's "Selective Trout", Jorgensen's "Modern Fly Dressings for the Practical Angler" or even Caucci and Nastasi's "Hatches" I get all hot under the collar... In fact, when I use a fly or technique of mine to great success and then see it outlined in one of their books, I often will snarl their name much like Seinfeld snarled " NEWMAN!" Except it would be "JORGENSEN!" or "CAUCCI!". Damn those guys for stealing MY ideas before I thought them!

Yeah, I'm green with jealousy... ;)

I guess I'm kinda like people who get jealous when people steal their fly recipes, ya know?

i think he said 200 fish days:)

Is there any evidence to support the claim that this fish in fact "Ruled the South Branch'?
