The old guy at Shannon's

Who's the old guy at Shannon's? Do they have a big theft problem there? This guy follows you up and down each and every isle and watches you like a hawk. A bit intrusive if you ask me.

Remember what Henry Kissinger once said-"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everyone isn't out to get you".

One of my pet peeves while browsing a store is a "hovering" sales clerk. I'm sure they're just trying to help, but If I need help finding something, or want to try a rod, I'll ask for it.

Last time I felt that way was when I stopped at a Griffin & Howe gun shop when they had one in Bernardsville. I had been in before, but always in a suit and tie while calling on clients nearby. This one time I was in jeans and maybe a t-shirt and was watched like a vulture circling above by the haughty taughty sales guy.

If they get a good looking 55-60 year old woman to do this, let me know and I'll go there frequently. All kidding aside, I have been there a couple of times since the current owner took over and the store is nice, it is just too far for me to get to regularly. But this guy reminds me of an overly aggressive parking meter person in my small town that gets the residents ticked off to the point where he was fired

I did some snooping. It is Donnie, the shop manager. He has worked there for over 25 years. He is in until around 2:30 pm Monday - Thursday if memory serves. He limps if that helps. And BTW, the "old guy" isn't much older than me. 😄
