Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

the actual 12 flies you would take with you in your box

flyI4

Fishizzle, I use worms but I'm looking to upgrade!
You always hear the "12 flies" you'd take to fish all the time discussion and a lot of times I feel like the flies mentioned are a little generic. The adams, the HE, ect. Not that they don't work, but when I'm honest with myself those don't fall the top 12. Let's see what people are really using

1. Rs2
2 Cdc caddis
3 Iso comparadun
4 Small snow shoe bwo(sparse)
5 White/blue deceiver in a sz 2
6 Same in black and flash
7 pheasant tail (just in case they arent rising)..its really only nymph u need
8 Rusty Spinner (hackle style wing)
9 lafontaine caddis pupa
10 Hendrickson cripple
11 Sulpher comparadun
12My all time favorite griffiths gnat

I guess I am a little generic:

Here is my list, in no particular order of importance:

1: Hotwire prince (red/yellow)
2. rs2
3. Rubber leg hares ear
3. Ausable Ugly
4. Sirloin
5. BH Golden Stone done in all wire
6. ice caddis pupa
7. parachute Hendrickson
8. Elk hair caddis
9. red quil
10. Amazon ant
11. "chubby"
12. rainbow warrior

In alpha order, one from the flybox of: Aaron, AK, Andy, Dave W, Jake, Jaybird, Johnny U, GLech, Matt, Mike, and Vinnie, followed with the last thing I learned to tye at the RRTU fly tying night (coming up Dec 20).

I never liked these types of threads. The 12 flies I would bring would all depend on the river and the time of year. I wouldn't bring the same 12 flies to the farmington in april as I would to the letort in july. If I had to pin down a few of my go to flies they would be olive pheasant tail, pop top midge emerger, brushed shuck caddis, cdc caddis, carry special, olive bugger, orange ant, cream midge, yellow caddis larva, cdc olive emerger and some type of grass hopper.

 1. Mercers Stone
 2. PT
 3. Mercers Micro May
 4. Bird of Prey
 5. Barrs Caddis Nymph
 6. The Ass Hat
 7. BWO
 8. Rusty Spinner
 9. Peacock Caddis
 10. Sulpher Sparkledun
 11. Iso Parachute
 12. Black foam Beetle

This is a silly question. You act like any fly fisherman, would ever dare go on the water without a thousand different flies on them. :)

Since the theme appears to be bugs for trout......12 flies......even though I'll have hundreds more, here is goes.....

The Usual
Parachute madam X
Elk hair caddis
Klinkhammer adams
Ausable bomber
Tabou caddis
Ausable ugly
PMD Barr emerger
Pheasant tail
Prince nymph
Zug bug
Copper John

So, the next question.
If you could only have 2 flies from your list of 12, one dry and one wet, what would it be?

For me:

The Usual, with a PMD Barr emerger as the dropper.
