Spring is right around the corner and I'm curious if any of you guys found any new patterns your going to be trying and tying let's see what you got unless its a secret that you don't wanna share Pa stream patterns a major plus.

We haven't even had winter yet.

Winter is a good time to tie flies for spring.

What type of water to you fish in PA?

Cress bugs, scuds, white woolly buggers, your general nymphs, emergers, dry flies for the time of the year.

No magical fly pattern I can assure you.

I'm gonna be fishing wet flies a lot this year. Just watched a good video from Davey Wooten on fishing wet fly patterns. Very informative

I am so glad you have finally figured out that to fish you have to
have your fly on / in the water to actually be fishing.

Yes your words are very hurtful. You have been cruel for over 5 years now but this last post of yours was especially brutal. How do you live with yourself knowing you cause me so much pain? Don't over think flies as they seldom truly matter. Choose patterns you have the most confidence in and put them where the fish are and you'll catch fish. Sure, there are times when a big, wild brown is finicky during the hatch and the fly becomes critical, but those are the exceptions to the rule. There's a good reason why some swear by nymphs, others dries, others wets, and yet other streamers. All are effective to trigger the feeding response. The key with any of those is presentation first, color and size second. Trout have an equivalent IQ of 6; they don't think, they respond.

My advice is to stick with the staples and try some new flies if they aren't working for you or if you notice something about the feeding instincts while on the river that you need to mimic back home at your vice.

This post got me to thinking! I'm not gonna say that a trout with an iq of 6 is smarter than our own Trouser Trout...

But what about a smart trout?

Perhaps a gifted and talented trout, with an IQ of 9 or so...

Are you saying that a trout could be, assuming it were gifted and talented, smarter than a man?
