Dries, wets, nymphs and streamers...it's all good!
So my foot is not healing as quick as I optimistically anticipated and am not as mobile as I had hoped. I am pretty much confined to a chair 98% of the time. Fortunately, I have a ton of rod blanks in the closet to build, so I have moved onto my next rod, which I hope to use in about 4 weeks fishing for steelhead.
Being a fan of the 2 handed rod and absolutely loving the Sage TCX series of rods, I purchased everything I needed a few weeks back and started the build on Thursday, starting with the cork and reel seat. I did go with a premade cork, but decided to use the lathe feature on my power wrapper and shaped the grip a little more how I like them to be. I am pleased with the outcome and feel comfortable enough to turn my own cork on my next build, most likely on a cheaper Pacific Bay blank in case I run into a few problems.
I am 85% complete with the build on the TCX already. I have complete most of the wraps, with only 2 guides to go and a ferrule wrap. Next is the feather inlay and color preserving it. Final step is the 2 night process of applying the finish epoxy.
Here are a few pictures of my progress.
