Rahway River TU Picnic - Noon, June 12th @KLG

Instead of our monthly June meeting, Rahway River Trout Unlimited will be holding a fishing get-together at 12 noon on June 12th in Ken Lockwood Gorge for friends & members. Current plan is to set up at the Trestle Parking area (GoogleMap 40.698003, -74.872253 for directions).

Unfortunately we can't have an sanctioned "picnic" because the state wouldn't give us a special permit to picnic in a WMA, which is disappointing but understandable. If they give us one, next thing you know, people think it's okay to picnic in KLG and nobody wants that.

Grills and picnic tables for a large group are out, but please feel free to bring your own food & beverages along with a rod & reel. Also, a folding chair if you want to sit.

I’ll probably bring a cooler with non-alcoholic beverages to share.

Seriously though a picnic at the KLG with no beer, no picnic tables, no...picnic!!! What gives here AK?

We decided to have a pseudo-picnic at KLG to have a good time fishing. The other option was to have a “real” picnic along the Rahway River. Having a picnic in the South Mountain Reservation along the Rahway River isn’t that bad of a choice, but the water there is a little too skinny for a large group of fishermen.
