Finally! The project that has had more obstacles tossed in front of it than all my other projects combined is finally here.

At 8 am tomorrow (Tuesday) my crew walks up the angler's trail and we will then start with our project to improve the 1/3 mile stretch in the middle of this TCA. I'll post plenty of pictures the next several days. Looks like our Wattles Tract/NJ Audubon stretch permit is being issued tomorrow, so we'll just continue downstream another mile when we are done here on or around Friday. The lower stretch will take us at least 9 days, perhaps more.

If it's not too rotten, this will be our gnarly root wad jammed in the S-bend a short distance downstream with the roots facing down and into a deepened pool located there.

Hows the excavator get in there?

Didn't you know? Because I'm Superman :foto:

Actually, there is a woods road just above the upper parking lot and we walked the big machine in on that road. We had to do a bunch of work for both the County Park and for us to just get in and out. Our fuel will be delivered in by a 4x4 truck and this is the road they use to stock fish with the county's side by side quad and it is also an emergency access.

Nice work Rusty. That pool looks amazing now. Must be a pretty rewarding way to spend a summer day.

Looks a little tight in there, can you cut back 30 or so yards of vegetation on both sides of the river and plant some grasses in place of the trees so it looks like a stream out west.

Ya know, backcasting room.

Another tough day in the office...........

A two wheel drive pick up with bald tires might not have been the best idea our refueler ever had. But we can pick up that truck and toss it half a mile if we need to. It's not getting stuck on our watch.
